Go for something the size of a car. I hear they are pretty painless.

I have mine done, and it doesn't hurt at all.

Mine took about 4 months to heal, and you have to make sure you take care of it. I've seen what happens when people don't rinse out after they've eaten or drank, and it's gross.

Rinse after everytime you eat with watered down lysterine. Brush it three times a day, and no kissing for at least two months. Your tounge will be swollen, anyway...you won't want to kiss. Trust me.

They're not that easy to hide...You can see them when you talk...and they're good for oral sex. That's what they're intended for.

The most traumatic part was drinking fucking salt & water.

I took mine out though, it made me look...slutty.

1. If you get your tongue numbed, it doesn't hurt. I didn't feel mine.
2. It will swell, and you can't eat solid food for a few days.
3. The piercing place should change the bar after 2 weeks.
4. Changing the bar isn't difficult if you know how to do it.
5. It's easy to hide when you get the bar changed to a smaller bar. The first bars they put in are huge, because of the swelling.
6. You can kiss straight away but I would not recommend it. It's not really very pleasureable, it's like trying to kiss with your mouth full. It just feels stupid, and whoever you're kissing won't enjoy it either. I'd wait a few months before trying oral sex with it, make sure it's healed and it's clean etc.
7. I'd advise washing your mouth out 4/5 times a day with mouthwash for the first few days, bring it down to 2 or 3 after that for a few weeks, that's what I did and I've had no problems

It really isn't painful at all, if it's done right. It hurt more to pierce my ears than it did my tongue.
