Yeah, so I was just wondering how people feel about different types of music, but I mean the type that is local to your country. I mean for me that would be Trditional Irish music, and I personally hate it, it just drives me mental.
So what about everyone else, do you have a specific format of music for the country and/or region you live in or are from? And if so what is it and do you actually like it or is it overrated in your oppinion?

People down my area like RnB and it really does my head in. I like music with meaning, with deep lyrics. And yeah people say that RnB can have meaningful lyrics but it just doesn't do it for me. I don't like listening to rapping and gangsta stuff, that's what it's like down here lol.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of RnB having said that, I probably couldn't tell you more than three RnB artists, and I rather like it that way.

My town/area is mainly dominated by what only can be described as 'chav', with the odd exception of course.
I cannot stand that music, I'm just not that was inclined.
Though, a few of my local bands put a lot of heart and effort into their music and performing to give us something good. Even if they're not a good band or sound awful, they're still trying and working hard to give us their best - so I respect them for that =)

Yeah, most local rock-esque bands here have no real skill, they can play some part of Seven Nation Army and think that makes them a rock band, not really, they don't really play their own stuff, and when they do it's not great because they think they are so great and don't feel the need to put any effort in as such.

Country is quite prominant around my parts. I like some of it, but I cannot listen to it all day without wanting to gouge my eyes out.

Ah, I reccomend a spork for the gouging.... >.>
Meh, country isn't too prominant here, thankfully, it's the Traditional Irish stuff that kills me, I call it "Diddly I Di Di" Music.... Heh. But I dunno maybe my hatred for the Traditional Irish music stems from my not being Irish. *Shrug* Either way, it bugs me.

Even though we have many different styles. The only kind that I think is really considered "local" to my region would have to ve traditional country, considering that it was invented in the Appalachian Highlands
I mean like the folk songs that were made from 1775 to the 1950's, yeah I know that is kind of a long time, but that was before people really started protesting war in America.
Examples:Pancho and Lefty
Ballad of Davy Crockett
Battle of New Orleans

I personally like the west coast folk sound out of Canada. theres this great artist who does that style but infuses it with a bit of a poppier sound. His name is Jeremy Fisher and i just can't get enough of him and i guess canada can't either, cuz i heard that hes nominated for TWO!! Junos this year, Best folk and Best new artist. It will be great if he wins, cuz that just shows that folk can still be more mainstream
