Ah yay. I love Christmas music, have three CD's full of it. You know, it's a lot of old stuff, but that's the best stuff.

Oh my no. I couldn't have remakes of those songs, well remakes are fine, it's just not remakes that are so modern. Not for me, I like the oldies at Christmas.

I listen to a mix of Christmas songs:
Religious-Mary's Boy CHild
Country-Little Drummer Boy(Lonestar remix)
Redneck-Leroy the Redneck Reindeer
Sad-The Christmas Shoes
Humorous-Didn't I Get This Last Year(Tune of Do You hear What I Hear)
Traditional-Do You Hear What I Hear
The is also this song by Bob Rivers called "A Letter to Santa" in which Don Vito Corleone from The Godfather is "Politely asking" Santa to get out of his territory.

I listen to whatever is on the CD's, or maybe some stuff on the radio, but usually closer to Christmas itself for thr radio stuff.

aaah right.
Well I know what ya mean, sometimes remakes are annoying, but this one is like...completely the original. When i heard it I thought it was. But hey, nothing is wrong with the traditional. I mostly like them. And I hate Mariah Careys version of...whatever it was. I hate her in general anyway.

Well, if you've ever heard Westlife's remake of You Raise Me Up, by Josh Groban. You'd understand my hate for many remakes. But I like the softness of the classics, they just feel like christmas to me.

October 30th '05, 09:21 PM
I get what ya mean.
And i refuse to listen to westlife. Id probably share the hatred of remakes if i listened to that song...

Oh you would. But unfortunatly Westlife is Ireland's prodigal child, and as such they love them and play them all the time on the radio. One of the many reasons I don't often listen to the radio. *Shudder*

If I was subjected to such torture Id happily chew my own ears off.

I used to work at a Supermarket, so we had christmas music the entire time. It was really annoying, especially if you have one of those 7 hour shifts, it drives you insane after a while (thats if the boringness of the job doesnt do it first). Now I work at a law firm, so I plug my iPod into my computer speakers and I listen to what I like :).
As to answering your question, no I don't think I'll be listening to it much. Except for this one maybe (if you need a translation of any of the slang, just let me know):
Aussie Jingle Bells
Dashing through the bush, in a rusty Holden Ute,
Kicking up the dust, esky in the boot,
Kelpie by my side, singing Christmas songs,
It's Summer time and I am in my singlet, shorts and thongs
Oh! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
Christmas in Australia on a scorching summers day, Hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut !,
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden Ute.
Engine's getting hot; we dodge the kangaroos,
The swaggie climbs aboard, he is welcome too.
All the family's there, sitting by the pool,
Christmas Day the Aussie way, by the barbecue.
Oh! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
Christmas in Australia on a scorching summers day, Hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut!,
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden Ute.
Come the afternoon, Grandpa has a doze,
The kids and Uncle Bruce, are swimming in their clothes.
The time comes 'round to go, we take the family snap,
Pack the car and all shoot through, before the washing up.
Oh! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
Christmas in Australia on a scorching summers day, Hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut!,
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden ute

Ute is short for 'Utility Vehicle'. So it's basically what the Americans would call a Pickup Truck. Holden is an Australian car, until the brand was bought out by General Motors. Most people still consider it Australian though, their main offices are in Australia and they do all their design and production over here.
Just to clear up another point - when we say 'thongs', we refer to 'flip flops', not a type of underwear :P
