i have a friend.. we we're not that close but we exchange text messages for months. then suddenly i told him that I liked him, and that i have feelings for him.. he said.."i'm flattered".. we never get to talk about it again.. we kept on sending message with each other. when he was not feeling well, i was only the person who knows that he was sick..then suddenly, he started talking about his great big crush. he said that they went out already. he even asked for my advice on how to court this girl.. i just can't understand him. was he doing it on purpose to hurt me? or he doesn't know that i was feeling bad about what he was doing?

When you told him how you felt and he just said I'm flattered then avoided the subject, that was probably his way of saying he doesn't quite feel the same for you. Rather than telling you through a text.
So when he found this new girl, he probably didn't realise you still felt the same for him as you did before. So I don't think he's done it deliberately to you.

my question is.. what was the time frame in which u told him u liked him.. and the time he brought up that girl.

I'm flattered pretty much always means, "thanks, I like you as a friend, but I'm not into you that way, and I don't want to hurt your feelings"

that and you have probably entered the unfortunate category of really really close friend who happens to whom you can tell absolutely anything but can never be more than a friend...who happens to be a girl...who happens to know what he should to make another girl happy (because who better to ask than one of the girl species in the first place?)
