Riots in Paris

Not to long ago two teenagers were accidently killed in a chase with Paris's police force. This has caused a string of riots which originatd in the ghettos and backstreets of the city. They say if the destruction continues Paris may soon become poorer than Bahgdad.

What do you think about all this?

Obviously its not good but luckily rioting has eased off during the past couple of days. Also Paris has been largely spared the violence that has affected its suburbs and the rest of the country so i dont think it could become poorer than Baghdad.

Baghdad supposedly is actually becoming richer. That study was assuming that Baghdad continued this trend.

Just with a lotta thingss changin. I'm not on about the resons an type of em bein same as the french's.

Just one day either things slowly gettin bad or whatever, summats gunna happen thatl piss a lotta peopel off, then it deff will be bad.

Riots happen what hot-under-the-collar kids with nothing better to do decide that the only way to make their point and get themselves heard is through violence. Its stupid and pointless, and doesn't achieve anything other than death and distruction. I have more sympathy for the cops who have to deal with it than I do for the kids who are running around throwing molotov cocktails at innocent civilians. (And this is coming from an Aussie - we're supposed to hate authority!!)

French authorities have imposed a curfew on all those under 16 - they have to be at home by something like 10.30pm. They had a bunch of 15 year olds on TV earlier in the week winging about this, saying that it was an abuse of their rights. Why the hell do 15 year old kids have to be running around the streets of Paris after 10.30pm anyway?? And where are their parents?

I really never understood what they are trying to achieve. I undrstand that they think their rights have been violated, but how do they hope to achieve anything by destroying their own country. If anything that just makes the government take away more of thier rights.

And what's this about riots starting up in england?

I agree with you completely Andrew. I don't understand why any kid at the age of 15 needs to be walking round the streets at 10:30pm and later. I mean, what is there to do? (besides wreck places and get pissed)

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but when I was 15 I was in bed by 8.30-9pm most nights. I certainly wasn't running around town rioting.

On another note, you know something else that I've noticed recently? I'll go into town on a Saturday night, and I'll be at the night club area, and there'll be a group (25-50 kids) of 14-17 year old kids riding around on bikes. We're talking after midnight here, in the middle of the city (the 3rd largest city in Australia) in the night club district. Does anyone else think that's a little weird?

you was in bed at 8:30 when you was 15?!!!??!!? I stay out till 10:30 sometimes and I dont get pissed and riot, just chill, talk and have a laugh with m8s.
