I don't save my money to buy name brands, I just buy what I like. It's stupid when people think they're cool because they have some brand plastered all over their clothes.

You can find A LOT of i pods, phones, and all of that expensive stuff like that on ebay. I own a phone and an mp3 player. I got the phone off of Amazon.

Well a certain amount of spending is good for the economy and the GDP of the nation. I wouldn't buy clothes just for the name brand, however if the item happens to be exactly what I'm looking for and it is a designer label then I don't see what's wrong with that. I mean it's circulating the money and all :D .

And ipods are notttt "stupid stuff"! My ipod has gotten good mileage because I travel a lot! I just hate it when Apple puts out one version and people swarm to buy it, however then like 3 years later, they put out a better one and they keep making improvements on its technology...I had an ipod mini 3 years ago but it seemed so rustic compared to my ipod video.

I hate designer clothes. I don't mind spending money on expensive clothes, but I find brands like Playboy, or Prada or whatever disgusting.

Finally someone sticking up for iPods- I got a dicount on mine so it was £140 (Was £190 full price when I got mine) And I take it everywhere and its great.

You try finding a decent name m4 player that works as good as the ipod!

Also I agree with the comment that nothing good comes outta cheap shit lol

Whats wrong with people buying what they want?
If they want name brands, then they should buy them. They wouldn't be the big name brands they were if people didn't buy them anyway would they.

For me it depends on what I'm buying first. I have an mp3 player, which is crap and would probably be better off with an ipod honestly.
I like to wear individual, unique clothes personally, not big brands, but sometimes I go and buy something like Nike trainers or an Adidas cap for example, there's nothing wrong with that.
And as for phones, I don't really see your point?

Buying really cheap stuff is never a good idea anyway, I agree Menace.

I bought some shirts yesterday, not big named brands. Wouldn't make any difference to me if they were, I just prefer the style of the clothes, rather than the name on it.
If Nike did the style of shirts I like to wear like the ones I bought, I guess I would buy Nike.

if i want something expensive i buy it.... if i want something cheap i buy it... i ain't fussed about big names but expensive stuff gets the job done HEHE

April 24th '07, 12:23 AM
If it's expensive it usually means it is of high quality, and *should* last much longer than something of low price.

If you go out and buy a $10 pair of shoes, you really can't expect them to last, with Camper for example, their major selling product is princed at $150, people buying that know they're going to get quality and superior support should the product fail.

Same with the iPod, far more reliable than the generic mp3s, and if your iPod breaks, quite easy to get it replaced.

So yeah, buying high priced goods and/or named brands is possibly superior to buying the low cost crap, depends on your income.

ok but clothing lines.. wat i meant is.. is it relle worth buying sumthing relle expensive like a pair of shoes.. wen ur only gonna wear them once cuz they match with a shirt. like yellow shoes that match with ur yellow top. or sumthin u kno? different but its so expensive. if ur only gonna wear them once .. wouldnt u buy sumthing more sensible and that matches, n if ur gonna wear em once its ok? make sense?

like girls.. we buy everything to match. but i have so many shirts ive paid a lot for.. and only wore like once or twice and given away. u kno? i regret buying so many expensive things then not wearing them..

Unless she's bad at handling money?
Or she has no other expenses?

Don't need to be rich to blow all your money on expensive crap.

If it makes you happy, and you can afford to, do it. But as you said, you regret it, so perhaps try to impose restrictions on your spending etc., because it is a bit silly.

I have an ipod and twice it broken. :(

I just buy what I like...By that usually cheap stuff :P. I dunno I just seem to like cheap stuff better, but I still have ipod and phone. Usually I settle for the cheaper stuff, personally I don't see anything bad in it. :hmmm:

I don't buy big brand name clothing. ie. Nike, Adidas and all. I don't think it's worth forking out money like that for a plain white shirt with a small tick in the middle. I think the cheaper clothes I buy look nicer. :P

With electronics, though, I don't think you can buy cheap stuff and get away with it.

Depends for me really, then again if there was one branded product and one cheaper non-branded product of the same quality, I'd get the non-branded one anyday.
More into band shirts really though. :P

iPods are a joke. They always break after a year and then you have to fork out another £70 to get it repaired, what a rip. In contrast my Iriver H10 has been going for three and a half years with out a single problem. :D

I dropped an iPod out the Window one time, the piece of shit broke, I dropped my Treo out the same window and it still worked, real hard for me to choose who makes better technology there. My Treo does more then that iPhone and iPod bundled together as one big package.

The iPod was the start of the joke, the iPhone was the climactic finish to that big joke, not the mention the iLamp, the GBoat-Anchor and the GCheese-Grator, its virtual cores, underclocked processors, and so much more. If you want a real MP3 player get a iRiver, if you want a real computer get a Quad Core AMD and Quad Core SLI with a dual unit PPU. The day I can put a full blown kernel on the iPod is the day I respect it, the day I can move out of iTunes store for bought music is the day I actually trust it, the day they get off the nuts of script kiddies who think they can program is the day I think they might have a chance in the real world of computing, till then its upto to the fancy pants design girly man like people who like half assed computing to use them pieces of crap, to produce half ass code that people pay me thousands to fix, and not to mention I could probably throw that under rated BSD kernal into a loop if I tried to pull some real machine code on it, and its not BSDs fault either, its Apples fault for their inability to produce hardware that can handle some real machine code.

Nothing to do with better technology, just stronger packaging. Personally, I dont go around dropping expensive items out of windows, so I have no problems there.

Shock Absorbing technology is built into most iRiver MP3 players, it was built into most CD players as a buffer system, its built into all SATA based drives, people drop shit, its natural. It has all to do with better technology ;)

Did you drop a number individual items of the products out of different windows of differing heights in different weather conditions?

One time each does not constitute an accurate investigation ^^

No doubt I could find countless numbers of people willing to state that their iPods have endured harsh treatments and never broken :O

I find that expensive clothing has better material and a better fit, so i feel much more comfty in them. I pefer expensive phones with all the upgraded technology because its very handy whilst travelling same with Ipod/mp4.

The biggest name brand I have is fred perry.
but, It's coz I was looking for anice outfit to wear to the Jamie T gig
I wanted somenew ejans anyway, so I went to TKMaxx & I decided that as I had money left over, I may aswel get a top to go with it, because I know what I am like when it comes to tops.
but yeah, it was cheap, coz it was TKMaxx.
Thats the best shop in the world and its as designer as I go.

Pfft I am one of the few people left who chooses quality over quantity. I despise shops like Primark, I don't want a shitload of really crappy, plain clothes. Last year I spent all of my birthday money,£400, on a silk bomber jacket and I don't regret it for one minute. I happen to like having things to show off about, materialism is a WONDERFUL thing.

Obviously not, clothes don't actually mean that much to me I'd never go so far as to get in debt for them but whilst I have the money I'd rather buy a few items that I genuinely like and I know I'm not going to see on about 10 other people that same day.

I am seriously resisting from launching one of my annoyingly long rants about Primark. That place stands for all that is wrong in our world, and I think it is slowly taking over. That is all I'm going to say. And no I'm not paranoid.

Lmao, Please, tell me your problems with primark.

For me, Primark is good to a certan extent, I will buy like an odd top I like or something
I don't actually own much primark stuff, I mainly jsut get either a set of PJs or like a nice bra/pants.
My fav shop has to be Top Shop though, and sometimes River Island too :D

I agree though, It's better to spend what you have on something that's goign to last, and is genuinly worht it, rather than "oh, that tops black... Oh it's £2 I have to buy it now"

lucille
May 10th '07, 02:16 PM
EXACTLY. And what happened to clothes shops trying to look stylish and presentable? Primark is just rows and rows of unorganised crap with neon lights, its so unappealing they are not even making an effort. Plus even if you do find a good thing in there (by good I mean a kind of tackier knock off of a topshop dress with more sequins) then you are going to see it on so many other people ranging from a 12 year old girl to a frumpy middle aged housewife. Argh it just annoys me that no one cares about quality anymore they just want as much shit as they can accumulate in a very short space of time, with very little money. I actually think that is greedier than spending lots of money on a few nice expensive dresses.

Gemski
May 10th '07, 02:26 PM

I hate how it's a giant jumble sale!
I mean, atleast if its a bra or something, it's not likely to be seen on someone else.
I hate teh big tabels tehy have, and they just pile shit sky high
I also hate how, they do size 8 - 10, 10 - 12, 12 - 14, etc.
I'm 10 - 12.
12 - 14 is too big and 8 - 10 is slightly tight under the arms.
Idiots, Lets be creative and just do 8,10,12,14,16 etc.
