`He finished devouring his icecream and looked up, suprised by the welcome.` Wow. There's a prime example of a RL-RPost. Real Life-Roleplay-Post. :/ I made a post, a scentence describing an action, as what I myself, the bum typing at the keyboard, was doing. :[
What is Roleplay:
Roleplaying, online is a series of things. It can be originally typed, or acted out in a PC game or any game connected to the internet as long it contains the requirements for your nessisary roleplay. Roleplay is broken down into many parts. But first and foremost it is Truth and Lies, or Real and Unreal or in simple terms, Fantasy and Real life.
Majority of people use Fantasy, ironically, to escape the real world, to test their typist, artistic, etc skills.
Then below these are Real Life Locations, or Historical Locations, Fantasy Locations, etc. Besides locations there are times. I always, always ALWAYS Roleplay about 100 AD to 700 AD. There are standards, or guidlines. If I roleplayed a primitive army, on horses holding lances and it was set in Midevil times already, YOU CANNOT BRING OUT A 44 MAGNUM AND BLOW MY #%^@ING BRAINS OUT. :/ That is called M.O.D.E. or moding. Method Of Direct Engagement. It's kinda complicated, so stay attention.
WISRP; MODE:
Moding, is something like..`Stabs you. You are dead.` That is a simple way to Mode. You cannot SAY, someone else has done something or somesuch. UNLESS, they admit, OOCly, there is NO WAY, for them to get out of it. If they attempt something, and you know it's impossible, or such you win and they must admit defeat. So...`I run away from the angry were-wolf, my back turned.` -Ebil werewolf follows and jumps me.- `I am suddenly facing him, and drive my fist into his throat.` That is impossible, because, when running full-force there is undoubtedly no way to turn around. So therefore, the human has his throat torn out. :/
To hit, you must coerce, try to give your opponent NO other option. But, please, guys, TAKE A FEW DAMN HITS every so often. So you don't start an OOC arguement like
'NO U NUB, I HIT JOO!'
'NUH-UH, @$$, I DODGED IT WIFF MY UBER-TASTIC MAGGIIIC.'

Kay, well, that was annoying to do. Moding occours also when information you gained OOCLY (OUT OF CHARACTER) enters your IC(IN CHARACTER)'s mind, without him/her learning it ICly. Like...
'JANE BUYS FISH. EATS. IS STUFFED.'
'ENAJ A MILLION MILES AWAY KNOWS JANE ATE FISH SO NOW SHE DIES BECAUSE IT'S ROTTEN.' :/

There are ENDLESS methods of fantasy-based ways to RP....But, D&D applies to most RP'rs. I honestly don't care what you do. But, you have to be careful because it may start OOC arguements. Vampyr-RP'rs usually follow the game Vampire:The Masquerade. :/
Dragons follow...well...whatever.
HUMANS. HUMANS. HUMANS!
Humans MUST ABIDE, laws of PHYSICS.
I like RP'ng humnas. They're simple and ungodly. Most of the time.
They don't have the advantages in size, speed, strength, ect like Vampyr and Dragons and such. But THEY THINK. A normal human can't run, like, five thousand miles in a day PEOPLE.

In a battle, in your introduction, you must post everything about your character. Or everything essencial. IF YOU FORGET SOMETHING, and end your post, at ANY POINT, can your opponent(s) or you, assume in a post that...say..
I forgot what my armour was made of..
So he posts. "HE RAMMED HIS FIST INTO THE ARMOUR OF TIN, KILLING ME WITH DIS CLAWS." Okay? Things to NOT assume, are such as height, weight. SPECIIES, SEX, ETC...Ask OOCly and remind the person to state it in their next post.

of ways to do a post, in second, firsth, third AND FOUTH! ;/ (Don't ask) person. But the simplist way is...
The head marking. I use a `, so I put it at the beginning. It can be anything, but please, don't make it a letter, because it's so confusing. Or it can be multipule things like ~@~, but please no...~@#@$#~!@@~!!!~ Because thats TOO DAMN LONG. After that, the introduction. Include what you look like, the weather, the area if you're the one who chose the setting, that kind of thing. After that is the ACTION. What you do, how you do it. You can be vague or precise. Just be ready to answer questions, 'kay? Or ask. You can sprinkle in what you're thinking, or w/e. And the end is BYPASSING. It's like....what your character intends to do, or a hint to it next, or something that will occour next, or may, if your current action is sucessful. :/ Then the end marker, which is the same as the beginning so for me it's `. Kay, well.

Besides building, the same applies for like...For two...ahem, luvas....After a fun...night..(AND I DO NOT, EVER EVER EVER EVER, AND I'M SURE SHANE DOESN'T EITHER, WANNA SEE -THAT- CRAP UP HERE. DO IT ON GODDAMN AIM OR SOMETHIN'. :/) And your ICly impregnant(Directed to the females...) Don't be preggy for a night. Find someone to RP your child. Start at a good age of...four, usually what most people do. :/ Then...if you want to or not...do the childbirth. (AGAIN ON GODDAMN AIM.)

There is no rule applying to keep a smoe guy at the keyboard from RP'n a girl=character. =/
Or a girl from RP'ng a male. =\ And no, you're not a shimmy shim shim unless you say, OOCly your IRL gender. =[
