What do you all think to farms?
Are they a thing of the past?
Lets face it they don't bring that much money in, more so in the UK.
Other places grow coffee beans and stuff, there are different types of farms.
Do you think there are too many?
There are a lot of farms in the country within the UK.
Our very own admin Bob for example is a farmer himself, I think I would want to know his views on the subject, how would he feel about getting a 'propper job'.
Come on views people VIEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Living where I do in the middle of nowhere there are a few farms near our little towns, I even have a couple of mates who live on and/or work on them.
They still do what they are required and obviously with the way the world is going nowadays, with companies exploiting overseas countries for cheap labour, there is a big decrease in the amount and uses of farms in the UK.
However I still think that we need them and they are of great use in the production of such basic daily items as milk, wool and meat products, more should be done to protect them from complete bankruptcy and the end of the farming trade in Britain.

Stop spreadin false information, I'm goin for a degree in IT thankyou and come from an old mining town and normal modern familly, nothin to do with farming. :P
As to farms and stuff well I think machines are taking over a lot more of the farming roles now so the actual Farmers arn't needed as much as they used to be, but obviously as mentioned things like milk and eggs and vegetables and so on are still needed, itd probably cost a lot more to import em rather than have our own farmers make and sell them. Plus the things thatd be imported would be a lot different to what were used to, we wouldn't be able to sit down to a nice full English breakfast or Sunday dinner anymore, yeah the ingredients may be the same in essence but I'm sure with em being foreign, it just wunt be the same.
Plus if a farmer wants to live off his own produce on his own land then, nothing wrong wi that really, he/she aint taking anything outa society, they mainly live off their own stuff and are providing into it, so its more just a way of living then a "proper" job as ya can't really put it on the same scale as other stuff.

How could we live not having farms? Are going to use machinery to produce our food? Oh, i guess thats what fast food is for right. Mm. Proscessed food... mmm good. Dont you just love all those additives, perservatives and dyes? There my favorite..
Screw that.... Im not a farmer... Im a gardener.... If youve had real food, stuff that has never been touched by anyone else, and hasnt been processedm and hasnt had any perservatives added too it, then you know what its like... The taste is different. Im a very, extremely picky eater, but my body cant handle all the extras food comes with. That stuff does harm to your body...
Yes i know that when farms ship off foods, they get stuff added to them, but i rather have that, then some machine make me a freaking salad... Get real

I agree with you. Unfortunately, sooner or later technology will take over. It's just a matter of time.

Jordan is a hillbilly and he works on his papas farm in his overalls and with his good old toothpick in his mouth.
if there were no farms...he would be broke and homeless.

Blah, I deny all accusations against me. I request an evidance hearing. Though on the subject of technology, I have to be frank, that wont be for atleast 50 years, we are just getting around to building AI bots, and I mean REAL AI, and just to let you all know, that test did NOT go well because the bots exhibited anti-social-behaviour and tried tricking each other, as well, some of them "starved" because of this trickery. Yes we can build bots to things of a specific nature but a bot in the form of which would take over farming would be far more AI / Human related then people would like to admit. Its going to take us atleast 10 more years to even get the technology correct let alone adapt the technology to something useful. Take a look at how long it took computers to hit non-commercial spaces, roughly about what 25 - 30 years :\ and that was far after we had the technology. Not only will that happen but you are going to have to build something that is low on power, able to work for long periods of time, and the only way we could do that is with liquid diodes and whelp, I doubt that will happen anytime soon because everyone is to busy trying to build 8 cores over trying to stablize germanium for a diode. While germanium was the first diode and it used a lot less power and had a lot more capabilities it was later taken out for silicon which was far easier to fabricate and fare more stable. So Again, I say, its going to be atleast 50 years before we hit the point to where humans are even remotely replaced.
