Next year, my junior year in highschool, ill be going into a program that will give me a nursing certification by the end of the year. The year after that, ill be a certified EMT.

What im wondering is if hospitals have jobs that dont require prior training, and that a 16 year old is capable of doing. I doubt it.. but still, why not ask.

If not, do you think other places dealing with medical care would? I would like to get into it so I can just move up the line as I learn more.

They generally don't have many good jobs for a 16 year old, but you can do work experience there.
Hospitals and medicine don't tend to work on promotion, they rely on mainly formal training apart from little jobs. Its mainly because it is so complicated and competitive.

I would say the only thing that you could Possibly do in a hospital is cleaning.
But then they normalyl look for something with experience

Like I said, they do volunteer work. For her 2 weeks work experience at school someone I know worked in a hospital getting books out of the little library thing for the doctors.
They look for volunteer work like this, but they don'tpay for it. They need something like that though on your CV if you plan on working in a hospital. But its very unlikely you will find a job in a hospital that works on promotion without a lot of formal training.

Thanks for the replys, I figured it would be like that, but best to check anyways. Through my class, im essentially going to be handed jobs (95% have a job once they leave by the end of the year), but I thought it might be a good idea to get some experience beforehand. I suppose I can volunteer.

Sorry for the late reply and I think I know of a way that you can get training and get paid at the same time whilst working in a hospital..

Ever heard of a Health Care Assistant?..A HCA for short. Well basically, you do all the rubbish jobs like wiping old people's bum, sometimes doing sponge baths i think, and a spot of cleaning but it is very worthwhile as you get a lot of experience doing it.
Where bouts you based?..Cus I wanted one of these HCA jobs in Sheffield because i need to get some work experience done for my UCAS application cus I wanna to do Medicine in Uni and they look for them sort of things.

I dunno, ask your local career advisor or if you really want, ring one of the administration peoples in the hospital you wanna work in and they'd gladly sort you out. You can easily get these numbers or emails from the internet these days..
Hope I helped you in time..
GOOD LUCK!

My cousin Andy has just turned 17 and he has a summer job in a hospital in St Helens doing Admin clerk stuff.
The bastard gets paid a lot for it too.

You cannot be an EMT under the age of 18, and nursing takes up to 4 years. There is no program that would allow a 16 yr old to have it. I got into my EMT class at 17, but I had to be 18 before the completion of the class. Unless of course the "nursing" you are talking about is a CNA, or a PCT. About the only thing you are going to be doing in a hospital at 16, if they will hire you is moving patents from the ED to the main rooms.
