Got to get up at 5am to get to work for 7 to do some health and safety shiz before the shop opens :/ which is going to last about a hour then i have to do bugger all for another hour an a half till my shift starts :/
they only doing it because none of the staff (not even the ones that have been there like YEARS knew what to do when fire engines turned up saying the store was on fire :s and it was just a phone box up the road. And then there was a women earlier that had a shelf of stuff collapse on her while she was walking past doing her shopping and every1 was like wtf we ment to do. So now they making all the staff get up at a ridiculas hour for some training, shouldnt they really have given it when you first start working there not after months even years.

It seems apparent to me that the staff there needs to be trained on proper safety, I would be amazed if you guys followed FIFO policy or LIFO policy (though most companies will fire employees for using LIFO Policy since it should only be used for non-tangible goods). It's your job as the employees to notice things like shelves hanging or looking shaggy and report it so it can be fixed. It costs more money to NOT notice and NOT care then it does TO CARE and TO FIX.

Things that could actually be dangerous and cause injury need to be fixed.

However it can go too far like at my workplace in the Civil Service, we arn't even allowed our coats on the back of our chairs cause o feckin health and safety, somethin about em gettin caught if we fall off our chairs or something, like wtf? Death by coat?

I keep gettin up an reachin for me coat pocket an realisin I'd had to hang it in the cabinet at the other end of the fucking office rather than on me chair.

I thought it was the law that people generally had to do Health & Safety

I had to do a couple of comprehension tests, reading then some computerised tests on health and safety at our work cos of all the dangers, more than your regular shop. That took up quite a few hours.

after watching the cctv the manager said one of there little kids was climbing on the shelfs and messing with the stock and thats why it all collapsed. i dont tend to do anything except sit on a till serving so i wouldnt notice if a shelf was faulty seeing has i have a great big fridge infront of me and thats all i can see.
we just watched a dvd and did miny quiz things-on the day like a pilock i locked all my stuff in my locker including my uniform and my locker key :/

Health and Safety has got out of hands!

As Bob said you cant even put a coat on the back of chair incase it kills you :S i mean if there is like one drop of water on the shop floor and someone falls over there going to get the lawyers involved lol, its perfetic!

Never mind, hey its just political correctness gone mad!
