Constantly point out bad things about her or something like that...make her look bad in his eyes...so he'll snap out of this perfect girl image of her in his head.

Point out good things about him, make him feel like he's special and she's the one missing out but don't say that directly as it makes it obvious. Take him out to have fun and distract him from it. Unfortunately it won't pass until he lets it. I'd just talk to him though about it, tell him how much he means to you as a friend and how he will eventually get someone who likes him back and it will be worth it, have a heart-to-heart with him. Doing all those things would possibly help, you need to support him and help him through it more than anything, and this will mean a lot to him I'm sure. Also, look after him, make sure he doesn't do anything stupid.

Another thing is... he told me he really likes me about a month ago. and this girl that hes talking about could actually be me...im hoping that its not. i like how you think i should try make him feel good, but how do i do that without giving him the wrong impression?

Explain to him that you are JUST friends. It's better to be honest. It's quite tricky that isn't it 'cos you may not be the girl he's talking about haha, but it's better to be safe than sorry. :)
Just take him out on the pull.. He'll soon forget about this lass, well his feelings for her... Or just take him out and make sure he really enjoys himself. Arrange to do something with a group of his good friends. :D

In my opinion, it's silly to be 'depressed' because of a lass, but hey.

You could tell him how much his friendship means to you, and how much you love him as a friend. its obvious he'll be upset about his feelings not being reciprocated, but him knowing you'll be there for him anyway will mean a lot to him. Just try telling him although he likes you, a relationship between you both wouldn't work out but you care a lot about him and you don't want him being upset over you. Take him out to have fun, show theres just as much fun to be had as friends as there would in a relationship. Plus, if it didn't work out, you'd be devastated if it ruined your friendship.

We arent very close friends. well not from my perspective yet anyway. his "good friends" dont really talk to me. but i will try to make him feel better. thanks for the tips. i really hope this girl isnt me. how do you point out his good qualities without him getting the absolute wrong idea??

Just point them out and make them friendly ones. Things like "you're such a good friend" would help.

Also making the effort to become a close friend will help a bit I'm sure. It might help him see that it would be better that way. Whether you are the girl or not i dont know but it sounds that way.

All guys have this one perfect girl, hell I have mine, but they just need to be distracted long enough to forget about them from about 2 weeks to 4 months

that actually makes sense in a way. its bad enough most people in my classes with him are thinking that we like each other. when im 100% sure its not from my side. cos they also giving him the wrong idea. stupid people who are bored of their own lives... but anyway. that only matters if this is me he is talking about....so i must just bring up the "Friend" word a lot to make him see being friends will be for the best?

that didnt work in my situation. the guy that liked me, we didnt speak for like 2 years and those feelings came rushing back for him when we did.

We sure are.

Because as I have learned, girls are NEVER wrong with what they say ;)
So it's clearly all our fault for everything ever. :P
