Can you not arrange to all meet up sometime? You could still stay in contact on MSN and through phone call though couldn't you? I know it's not the same, but maybe you could go and see them or they could go and see you whenever possible. Then perhaps a big meet up sometime?
Also, I'm sorry to hear that. :(

It is, it's nice to just pick up the phone and be able to meet up the same night. But if you're still at uni or have a job, you might be able to meet some more mates I guess. =/

Your mates in Sheffield don't think it's great to meet new people?
If you do don't let their opinions hold you back from it. =]
Everyone sees things differently, it's just who you are. But things will start to look up.

You'll miss them, but you can have bigger, better and more fun celebrations when they come back to visit and make some more friends in the mean time. That way you'd still be able to pop out with the new friends but you'd have an excuse to celebrate when they came back! You could even go to visit them and experience the awesome places they are in.

Its hard at first, my brother goes to university but somehow it made us closer as we weren't bugging each other all the time and we'd have loads of long talks when he came back and he grew up so much. I'd say it will be the same with your friends.

Keep in contact in the mean time, with your old friends, your new friends and the celebratory visits all the time you could have more fun than ever :)
