[yes, another thread.]

I'm pretty sure 90% of you guys (if not more) have read Poes' work or heard about him. If not click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edgar_Allen_Poe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edgar_Allen_Poe). <--that

What do you really think Poe was all about.

Do you think he was just a sick, demented guy who was a fucking nut?

Do you think he was just a hopeless romantic whom was driven mad when his wife died?

What do you think about Mr. Edgar Allen Poe.

[no doubt was he the greatest writer alive, EVAR]

A discussion about EAP could go on forever, I spent a semester going over his works, his life, and anything related. In short, I think he was a brilliant writer, with an interesting life, and was not a "sick, demented guy who was a fucking nut".

Of course you would spend a Semester going over his works, its sort of Required when you take American English :-\, and yes he was sort of sick and twisted, anybody who truly understands his works would know that. He may not have shown that on the outside, but he certainly did show it in some of his writings.

Eh that font is mad ugly. :[

Anywho, Poe was an amazing writer no matter how sick his thoughts were. He showed everyone another side to things and only amazing writers can do that.

I would beg to differ on that. Not all of his work was great, actually to be honest only a few of his pieces were truly excellent.

Ok.

In my opinion, however, all the stories (that I have read) are brilliant. Making him an amazing writer...to me.

he was kind of moody and dark. creep.
i've only read one short story from him, and I admit, it was pretty good.
that one with the wine tasters. and this one becomes jealous of the other one, so one day dressed as a clown sends him to a dungeon below.. or something.

damn it was so long ago. i think i was a freshman when i read it. i cant even remember the name of it. but it was good.

wait i think i read another one from him.. where there was this other guy, kindda crazy who could hear the heartbeats of this old man even after ha had killed him ... but maybe that was by another writer :/

Yeah I'm not sure about the first book, but I think it might be The Cask of Amontillado (I can't spell it) and the second one I'm like 99.9% sure it's the Tell Tale Heart. :]

I read those, pretty good and the Masque of the Red Death and some others.

He was an absolute GENIUS - I love all his poetry (especially Lenore), and have read most of his short stories.

I'm going to try and rewrite Benerice (teeth, mmm...) from the POV of the title character, for my English A-level coursework. This, could take a while....

[EDIT: could someone change the title of the thread? It's Allan, not Allen]
