I've been dating my girlfriend for two and a half years now and I've decided I want to break up with her. Lately we've just been fighting a lot and for the last while I haven't pictured myself staying with her after highschool. I'm realizing that I shouldn't be with her if I have no intentions of being with her after highschool and that I'm wasting both of our time. We just had a fight today and I'm going to break it off tomorrow.

My question is what is your advice on breaking up with a girl while still being respectful and mature. We go to the same school but I feel school is the wrong place for a breakup. Idea's on time and place? Thanks

Well obviously don't do it at school, do it out of school it isn't that important where, although I'd say avoid doing it at either one of your houses.

Simply do it by talking maturely about it and saying why you think it's not working, the same reasons you just said in your post. Hopefully she'll be mature enough to listen to your points and respond maturely too, you never know maybe you can work something out between you.

Wow, 2 and a half years. Kinda a tough break.
Just tell her gently that you don't think you should see each other anymore because you guys aren't getting along and that you both need to move on, and that she will find someone else.
Just let her down easy. She's not going to be happy about it either way though.

don't forget to tell her that 'we can still be friends'

No, do.

Its condescending and no one ever really means it.

Asking to be fuck buddies is obviously much more realistic.
