Please be aware on Tuesday October 16th 5:00 PM - Wednesday October 17th 4:00 AM PDT the server will be going through a split off phase. During this time the Engineers at the datacenter we are housed in will be performing UOP as well, me and my engineer will be preparing for the future PHP6 rollout. This means several engineers will be working on the server. While it is anticipated that the server will only go down during the major rollout of Plesk 8.1 (by forceful reboot) it is possible that the server could go down in short bursts of 10 minutes while upgrades to the operating system are being installed and source code is being compiled to be tested.
Please, be prepared to watch some TV during that time as we work. If you have any questions or comments please Post them in this thread. Please also be aware, that the time is set in stone and I will not be changing it.
Does this mean the server will be down that entire span? No, I am making you aware that we will be working during that span, and the server could go down in short bursts during that time. Short bursts are anywhere between 1 minute and 20 minutes. They rarely happen, but they should be made aware of.
Could it be down for longer then 20 minutes? Yes, there is a possibility, is it high, no, but there is a small chance the entire server could fail over, in this event, we are prepared and the server can be mirrored back to its original state in a matter of minutes.
Will we blocked out of certain areas at any time? Yes, this will effect both staff and members, however the scope of staff lockout will need to be discussed with me, it will not be posted, members will be locked from posting for a short time frame as we backup and roll out. This is expected to last 10 minutes, and falls in with the originally stated 10 minutes.
