Today my mum had to go into hospital. She's had a stomach problem for a while and when she got the flu it aggravated her condition. After spending the entire night throwing up the doctors referred her to the hospital for emergency consultation with a surgeon.
Now, my parents are currently going through a divorce, they have been for 2 years but it's having to go through the courts because my dad keeps changing his mind.
Originally, my dad wanted custody of me, my brother and sister. I've been disregarded from that since august since I'm now 18 which means I have to decide.
So today, I phoned him up and explained that my mum had to go into hospital and asked him if he could take care of my sister for tonight and take her to school in the morning (she's 12). To this he replied "I'll think about it I'm working tomorrow night".
So, 2 hours later he phones me back and says "I'll come pick your sister up at 9 after I go down to the pub for an hour". Great, he'd rather drink than be with his daughter.
He eventually turns up, at 10. And says "Will your mother be out of hospital tomorrow" So I explain that we don't know but my grandma has offered to take care of her. At which point, he says, with my sister close enough to hear "Fuck it I'll just have the night off work and I'm telling the courts about your mother making me miss a shift and lose money".
What the fuck? Swearing in front of a 12 year old? Complaining, making his daughter seem like a chore while she's within earshot? Having the night off work when he doesn't need to and blaming it on my mum?
What the hell is his problem.
And he wanted custody. I bet it's just so he doesn't have to pay child support.
Luckily he doesn't have to look after my brother. He's 17. And he would actually hit him if he pissed him off.
