What is it that makes a condom go off? Like does it become easier to burst over time or what?

I know this may sound like a silly question but I'm REALLY curious..

Well, both age and friction...haha.

Sometimes the heat from...yeah...will make the rubber thin out and break. Same goes if you use two condoms at the same time...There's more of a chance that they'll break if you use two.

Also, the rubber can sweat and cause it to become weak and brittle. :P

What happens is that there is;
no where for the white stuff to go so it can burst ,
they rub against other condoms ( double protection ( supposedly) )
They are out of date which means that they will have more friction

It is a legitimate question that deserves a proper answer.

According to http://www.all-about-condoms-4-u.com/expired-condoms.html

You may think that you are practicing safe sex, but if you are using expired condoms, you are putting yourself and your partner at risk for an unwanted pregnancy or a sexually transmitted disease. If you have expired condoms sitting around in your night table get rid of them and get yourself some new ones.

Expired condoms are more likely to break while you are having sex. Over time the latex breaks down resulting in a weaker product that will not protect you. The shelf life of condoms is quite long with a condom containing spermicide lasting unopened for three years, and a condom with out spermicide an average of five years unopened. With this type of longevity, there is no need for expired condoms. Be careful if you are shopping for condoms and find a large batch that is on clearance. Make sure that you check the expiry date on the packaging; the store may be trying to clear them out because they are approaching their expiry.

Using expired condoms does not mean that you will contract a disease or become pregnant; however it does increase the chance that the condom will break putting you at risk. Your best bet and safest choice is to use a condom that is well within its expiry date.

its a really good question and you can bet half the ppl on this site will be wanting to know the answer to this, its kinda simple, a condom can become faulty from when you open the packet, if you happen to so much punch it in any shape or form, or cause the rubber to expand to much it will weaken the condom, so when it is inserted into your partner, the friction hits the weaker area and causes it to break, also the thrust power can cause a condom to rub again the body wall and weaken the condom once again leading to breakage, and it can also explode at the top, if the sperm has no where to go, the pressure becomes to much and the condom will simply snap.

I'm not planning to have sex! I'm only 15 and in my books that's too young...
