A debate other than Organs for Jon.
Should we legalize it?
So I'm feeling lazy right now, but I'll post my views (I'm pro-legalization) at a future point, ie. tomorrow.

I think legalizing it would make it a safer for the woman.
Not having to hang about in dark ally ways etc has got to improve buisness!
Personaly im not against it, i know people get into prostitution as a last resort some times. But for other people its just getting paid for something they enjoy.

Too many women and girls are kidnapped and sold into prostitution. It should stay illegal and the pimps should all be hanged.

I think if it were legalized like it has been in some states (maybe one) in the US where prostitution is aloud inside designated brothels.
They have very very tight rules (no anal ZOMG!) so it eliminates a lot of the danger of prostitution, and I think that it helps people who find it very hard to find a sexual partner. Could also helps reduce the number of rapes because you can get sex without forcing it upon someone.
And cheers Claire!

i agree with nammy on this one, but as a very very very last resort is it kinda ok. but if it was legalized then probably a WHOLE LOT of women would do it just for that..

So you give gifts only in the hopes of getting laid? Is that you in your signature?

i don't think it should be completely legal, too many people would get hurt, i think the idea of having it be legal inside of licensed brothels is a better idea.
How many stories have you heard on the news about prostitutes getting killed.
if you think that prostitution would be confined to a brothel then there would be far fewer

if it was legalised it would not increase the number kidnapped and forced into it. If anything it would reduce it as there would be legal alternatives for guys to go to and "business" for victims of forced prostitution would decrease.

if it was legal then they would take them anyways, but if it stays illegal then they would have a less chance. P.I.M.P.S knowing they could get put in prison keep it on the DL so they don't do it as much but if it becomes legal they will kidnapp women and children whenever they want to..
to me it seems more dangerous. i agree with nammy.. there would be more of it then less.

How would legalization of prostitution make pimps kidnap more girls?4
Look at it like this, your a guy who needs to buy sex. Are you going to go find some girl on the street corner OR are you going to go to a brothel where things are a whole load safer?

think that must be one of the first times a fleshlight has been used as a "sensible" sugestion.

Hahahah.
Anyway, my view on the matter are as such;
Firstly from a personal view I think prostitution being illegal is ridiculous. A women's body is her own and she shoud be able to do with it what she wishes. To me allowing a woman to be paid for sex is no different to a man being paid for his sperm. Why should the government have more say over someones body than the person themselves? This same argument can of course be used to many things including the legalization of drugs etc. But I think its important to stress that in the case of prostitution no harm is being done to anyone else, whereas the influence of drugs can cause people to act violently etc.
In practical terms I think is prostitution was to be legalized it would have to be done as someone suggested inside brothels. If curb crawling were allowed there would not be an effective way of managing and controlling it. SO from this point on my argument regards brothels rather than other forms of prostitution.
Legalizing prostitution would bring the profession above the ground, and from a health and safety purpose this is VITAL. There could be regular health checks for STIs etc., a better way of enforcing safe sex in the first place, and a safe environment for the prositutes. I'd envisage having 'licensed brothels' with cerrtain laws and precautions in place. A much safer alternative to a blow job in the back of the car in the middle of the woods.
In terms of people being sold into prostitution etc. this would inevitably reduce if it was legal and everything was above board. Similarly in the case of illegal immigrants who often fall into prostitution, if it were legal they'd have to have visas and work permits etc, and thus could not be illegal immigrants.
Its a bit of a dumb point, but make it legal and the government could tax it. Maybe this is the way out of the recession? Lets face people still want sex.
I don't think being a prostitute should be shameful, and whilst there's clearly a deep stigma attached to prostitution, by making it legal maybe this could be the first step towards removing it.
