Okay, so I'm in year 11 but for medical reasons I have been off school for the past 4 months. I doubt I will be returning either..
Anywho, despite myself and my Mum bugging my head of year for about 3 months they have only just sent me some work.. So I'm basically 4 months worth of work behind everybody else.
The mental health team that are helping me, suggested online learning.. We had to get in touch with the education welfare officer (EWO). They said that there are not any places available! This was about 2 weeks ago and we have not heard anything since.
Since then, I have been emailing my tutors and finding out exactly what I need to do to try and get up to speed with everyone else. My english tutor rang me today and asked whether I'd be doing the English Lit exam as well as the English Language one as I have got to be entered before Monday.
I got off the phone to him and I had an answerphone message from my EWO saying there was a place on the online learning. So now I'm in two minds about what to do. Do I stick with doing the work sent home from school, where I've pretty much got to research/teach myself what I don't already know. OR do I jump at the chance of having online learning, with a virtual tutor.
I am really very unsure of what to do. Any help?

What subjects are you doing at school, and what timescale would the online learning cover?

Well.. I'm only going to be doing English, Maths, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and a language, no mater which option I go for because of my mental state.. Online learning will be a couple of hours a day probably. Doing work at home that I get sent from school will probably be about the same because I won't be able to do too much.

online might be more helpful, cos there will be online aids and such like i assume?
By a virtual tutor, do you sit and watch virtual lessons (like i do with some of my uni lectures when the teacher's ill), or is it a bit like they give you a set amount of work to learn, like for example in biology, they give you the topic of genes, and then you read so many pages about it and then do some questions and answers about it?

I was meaning more do you study for the same amount of time as you would if you stayed in school or do you have to start a new course instead of continueing the one you are on at the moment

Yeah, I said that in my first post :P
It seems that you can only do english and maths online sooo I think I'm just going to do work sent home from school then make appointments with my teachers if I need help.. Or just email them or something.

It would seem better to do that then.
Take it you cant do a combination of both?

As in get the work sent home from school but use online thing to help you out etc?

Well if you can't do it all online that blows. In that case make sure you see your teachers/talk to them regularly, you can't be expected to completely teach yourself, its a very hard thing to do.

If you ever need any help, feel free to ask me, I am training to be a teacher after all, I have As at A Level in Maths, Biology and Physics so I'd hope I could remember/do most the GCSE stuff still, and if you do get to chose history then I'm definitely away!

Found out today, I can do both so I guess that will be the best option!

If you need another set of eyes for proofreading or whatnot, I'd be happy to help. Although aside from English, I fear that I can't offer much in the way of knowledge. I wasn't too hot on my senior maths / sciences.

Physics is the one I fail at the most! Just don't understand it at all!!

haha my proof reading is great, so yeah just post up or send whatever it is you need proof read. Proof reading stuff here would be a cakewalk after moving home and having to help my sister with her essay writing... lol
