There has been another school shooting. It happenend in Germany and 15 people lost their lives. How do you think society should stop this kind of thing from happening again? why are so many young people so malajusted?

I dont think there is anything different in this day and age than there was in the past. News just gets arround alot better and people have access to differnet weapons.

I guess there is also the fact people are copycats and less origional than they were previously.

Its just that some people have their minds wired in such a way that things like this happen.

Yeah. I read in Metro the day after this was reported that he was the school bully during his time there. And that he did badly in school academically but had an encyclopaedic knowledge of weapons and armouring himself = result? Jealous of the cleverer kids who did better than him and just couldn't work out that bully = no mates. Who wants to try to be mates with someone who bullies him?

Notice that most of his targets were female? Again, he couldn't understand that no-one likes bullies and was probably a hormonal beast during his last days of school. he wanted revenge on the female gender in general for not one single girl in the school fancying him so got his revenge that way.

Why can't bullies be reasonable? If he were then he'd realise he'd need to change his ways in order to have a successful social life.

The point that most of his victims being female is an important one. As you point out he was probably taking revenge for all the girls who ignored him while he was at school.

The truth is we can't stop these tragedies, as much as we want. Things like this can be caused by anything, the human mind is powerful but can be used for good or bad. What affects people could be anything, for example a person may have repressed memories, memories that can be brought back by a scent, a sound, a reference and can trigger emotion and physical pain in which everyone responds to differently. Because this person is not around to help us understand why exactly he did it will we never know. But theories are possible.

That could be it as well. Though once you get to know me, you'll find that most of my posts are either sarcasm or patronizing.

So, if I wanted to be somewhat serious on this topic, I'd pop in a post saying something like;

"Oh, well perhaps if we look past the fact that he was a bully, then knew all about his private life at home, we most likely would be able to find some sort of hint as to what he was going to do. Most of these killings (especially teenagers) don't just decide to happen one morning, they're planned. Sometimes starts with a hit list, or some sort of note saying something about what they want to do, or a journal, or his friends, or something in the way of that matter."

So I got bored halfway down the thread but here's my thoughts.

Sure you can never hope to stop it completely but there's things you can do, I don't know about gun laws in Germany, but if we take the comparison of the UK and the US. How many more shootings in schools are there in the US? Lots, exactly. Change the gun laws, simple. I don't really understand the American gun laws or why they exist, other than you get some jackass gun freaks getting uppity if you try and change them.

So say we be nice to these twats, because we're the better people, there's still things you can do, arming teachers is ridiculous, guns against guns makes no sense, but better security, we've all seen it, metal scanners in front of schools etc. put them in front of all schools, sure they are not foolproof but they're gonna help. Also student mentoring, most the people who do this sort of shit are unhinged, put in place a better system of counseling and you'll fine them a lot quicker, and whilst you might not realise they're about to kill a load of people, you'll probably keep a closer eye on them.
