Scared of blood tests... Help!

Hey everybody!

this is my first thread xD

just writing to ask you all:


If you have a fear of blood tests, what do you do to get through them?

I have a hyperphobia of them, and I have one this afternoon, I'm trembling at the thought lol


I posted this here because it is more to do with my emotions rather than my health

theyr not as bad as people make them out to be, just dont look when theyr doing it and count to ten, its over in 3.

I used to be really scared of them, but I had to have one a few weeks ago.
Its not that bad, can feel a little uncomfortable but it was fine for me and I hate having anything near my inside arm.

it'll be over in few seconds.

i was never really scared of needles after my first one when i was five
everyone else was freaked out and so was i, coz everyones a sheep when they're five ;D
and i was so freaked out i actually didnt notice she'd put the thing in and she told me it was over and i was like 'oh.'
so ever since then i've just been okay with them haha

i used to have frequent blood tests when i was younger, i was generally fine but apparently i kicked a nurse in the face one time and they made sure my feet were restrained after that :s

i might just be used to needles by now or something but i don't really get what people worry about, if it's the pain that worries you pinch your leg as the needle goes in and that should make you notice it less

Nah I don't know hyperphobias are crap, but I quite like bloodtests so I'm not much help. Good luck anyway.

I got used to them when I was in hospital for 10 days (when I was 12), cuz they thought I had meningitis.
they took my blood every day, plus they punctured me (stabbed me in my back with a giant needle). and once you experience that kind of pain normal blood test seems... well, just normal.

I get uncomfortable as the idea sickens me for some reason (strange for an ex self-harmer :P) but yeah, just dont think about it. Look away and think happy thoughts :P

i've had injections near my eyes, in my mouth, in my ankle, all over the over, in the shoulder and one in the butt.


after you've taken a needle in the cheek nothing else really compares tbh

they arent so bad, im a bit funny in that i dont like needles just because i think they are wierd and dont like the feeling of the, Although saying that, i donate platelets which involves being hooked up to a machine for 90mins wiht a needle in my arm lol
