View Full Version : Important: Some Changes...

I thought it important, after monitoring the actions taking towards new members here, that I make a few changes.

Firstly, any Moderators, who have been found to be insulting, aggressive, racist, judgemental or just plain intolerant, have been removed from their roles. Effective immediately.

Secondly, I'd like everyone to lesson their grasp of Grammar when reading posts by either Members younger than themselves or Members that are only just starting out in the Community. Some people may be too young to spell correctly, some may be used to typing in "TXT TLK" and it might take them a little time to adjust, others may be simply be dyslexic. I know I, personally, wouldn't seem as literate if I didn't have Spell Checkers to rely upon.

A lot of you fail to realise this is a Teen Forum. Teen being the important term here. Sure I've opened this Community up, to accommodate 13-25 Year Olds, but only because I think that the younger members would benefit and learn from the guidance of those of us that are "getting on a bit".

A lot of New Members of this Community may be first time Forum users. A lot of the time that's why they post frantically, creating new Threads and asking for Replies, as though they were using a Chat Room.
Don't simply decide you don't like these people because of this, instead why not support them and try to explain what the purpose of a Forum is and how it's different to Chat Rooms and, for example, MSN Messenger.
We should feel lucky to be able to educate these people to the ways of the Internet, not take the opportunity to frighten them off at every chance we get.

That's all for now but there are bound to be more updates soon.
If you have any questions regarding any of this then please, don't hesitate to ask.

What happens when a member turns 26? Are they excommunicated?

For that matter, will moderators be excommunicated when they turn 26?

edit: not trying to be a smartass here. I'm just curious.

Most likely for the best. xD.

I pretty much only banned spammers and edited ads anyway.

Had a good run, I suppose.

I like to think that people will sort of Phase out before then and move onto other things. Unless, of course, they stick around to offer advice and support to the younger Members. I see no issue with that.

Had a good run, I suppose.I'm not saying you've indefinitely lost your role. I'd just like to speak with everyone at some point. Get some ground rules down for the way things are run, before bring people back on board.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate how you guys have stuck with the site so long and, even in my absence, kept the site in pretty good shape. I just want everyone to feel welcome.

I can understand that. I have to admit, we kinda got out of hand a tad. But yeah, whenever you feel like having a talk, hit me up on MSN or something. I love this site, and I would be more than happy to keep helping out with running it if the powers that be deem it neccessary. :p

Just make sure you keep at least one ACTIVE member up in the mods, unless you're going to be around a bit more in case of spam attacks. Other than that, I'll be waiting!

Ahah. Rather like Nyx and Tim, I suppose.

It'll be quicker that way.

As for Tim, he doesn't have a working Computer at the moment. He's looking into getting a laptop soon though so I'm sure he'll be back too.

I agree with your points shane. Hope it will work.

by the way, I'm 22 - don't tell me I'm too OLD for a teenageforum :p

Fair enough points.

I think a few of us just need to tone it down a bit on the intro threads in particular, but like I said in an another thread, the banter with people will come in time, I suppose most people won't come back if they get abuse or anything straight away, without much provocation.

Not at all. In fact, like I stated in an earlier post, some of your life experiences and how you've managed them may prove useful for when younger members are going through similar things. :)

Yeah, that's the idea. Not everyone wants the confrontation but those who do will eventually get it. As for those who are just here to relax and chat to a few friendly folks, they should find what they want too. :)

In fact, Leon. Reckon you could stop by my Office next week sometime and go through somethings with me?just let me know hen you're free. :)

ahhhh I figured this day would be coming soon. I'll be sure to stay out of the intro threads while grumpy... lmfao

edit: sidenote, it still says supermod despite my lack of banhammer. will have to find that setting to change

Maybe we could have the over 18s section as a flame-friendly zone where if the newbies venture into it they're fair game? Lol. I'm not too bothered personally though I'm happy to be nicer, rules is rules innit.

I have noted your statement, Shane, and will adjust my behaviour accordingly!

Nah, it's not too bad at all. I get email notifications and such. Plus, the auto-spam stuff seems to have always taken care of most of it. :)

To be honest, I think this place is going to hell in a hand basket. Before long, it'll be nothing more than a bunch of morons trying to out-troll each other.

It'll soon improve once I get around to sorting everything out and, eventually, shelling out some $$$ for advertising on other sites. :)

How are you going to pick the staff?
Like, are you going to choose orr do we have to ask for it?

Pick me to join the staff, the one crucial mistake ARG made was not making me moderator. I'll run this place rock hard.

Bro, why you riding up? Chillax. No one is out to get you.

Anyway, google ads seem to go over well. When we had those up, ARG had its biggest boom.
