Is it discrimination if you are denied a job simply because you don't look your age?
Because this happened to me today with the words, and I quote, "I'm sorry but you look to young to be 18... You may as well go home now."
Which, btw, has made me feel utterly butterly shit =/
Don't think I'll apply for anymore jobs for a while :(

mh I don't know, I guess its depending on the job you want. If you apply to be a striper they wouldn't hire you if you look like 13 years old. Not that I think you want to be a striper, was only an example :D

maybe they think you can not sell enough if you look young. People don't trust young people for some reasons. I have the same problems on work. Everytime when I have a meeting with a customer I have to dress up like a 30 year old, otherwise they don't take me seriously.

I agree, i don't think its discrimination, but its a tad harsh nonetheless.

But don't let that put you off finding a job. I'm sure you'll get one soon enough :)

I told him I had ID with me but he wasn't interested... Just decided I looked too young and I couldn't say/do anything to change his mind.

Idk about discrimination, but I don't think people can deny you a job based on your age.. So.. Basicly I have no idea, but was bored so I thought I'd post :)

i also had problems because of beeing short but never for a job application that is just nasty come on i mean dude wtf discrimination much, just because you are short dosen't mean u are retarded

In the job I started on Monday I got bollocked for using the staff entrance because the headteacher thought I was one of the kids :| Pmsl.

yea i know damm well how it is i almost get kicked out of pubs sometimes even though i have ID on me i allways have it on me but thouse stupid people don't care they see short person and think ah u are under 16 (legal age to drink) and i am like dude i am fucking 21 yea but they don't care

If that happened in US it'd be a good reason to sue the person who rejected you.
