Right I went 6 weeks of not having any Chocolate for Lent so I figured I can do this.
I am going to go 6 weeks of only Drinking Water from this Friday.
It's not just strictly water, still need calcium so I will be having some milk on my Cereal, but I don't really class that as a drink. ;) And thats only a few times a week.
Anyway I reckon this should help out alot with problems such as Acne and I am going to keep you all updated on the effects. :P
Just wanted to know if this will have any effects on me such as going to the toilet more or my head falling off? :S

Just make sure you don't drink too much water.
You can actually kill yourself by drinking overload amounts..

You'd have to drink like....20 gallons a day to do that...haha.
I go weeks on end where all I drink is water. You'll have to piss alot, but other than that i'll help with acne, and it'll help you lose weight.

I was gonna start last Friday but as shane pointed out there was the party. so i was gonna start monday, but theres another party tomorrow. no way am i drinking water at a party! So it looks like its gonna be kicked back till monday again! giving me till sunday to finish the crate of larger i got left from the party! :P

haha thats ace. i have a lot of water at work anyway, cos thats the only thing were allowd to drink. but i couldn't go without a coffee or a glass of diet coke once in a while.
I gave up on alcohol anyway for about 4 weeks (until last night) but i decided i liked it better not drinkin!

Can't imagine how I'd cope without getting a little pissed once in a while. Sad, really.
As for the water experiment, I only drink water anyway..and milk and occasional alcohol when a party comes along but mainly always just water.
Good luck to all of you who are doing it. I find that it makes you feel a lot more happy, healthy and energised all the time. But then again, that could just be the exercise..I don't know. Either way, water's great for ya! :)

i supose gettin drunk once in a while is ok. but not every friday nearly paralised and the odd day in the pub in the week. it ruins your life.

How old were you when you started drinking? They say that the earlier you start drinking/smoking the more likely you are to become addicted to it. I started when I was 14 and I wouldn't say I am addicted but I do enjoy getting pissed a little too much.

Ive drank for years, as long as I can remember, only like with parents though and new years eve and stuff.
But in the past 18 months I went a bit mad, and the last 6 months crazy with going to pub. My 2 local ones seen as we can actually get served in them haha.
Never drank on streets or anything, i know of people that have but i didn't want to get into that situation.
I could never be addicted to smoking.
Wasn't hard to stop drinking, i did it for about 4 weeks, then i drank on friday and felt really bad for it, maybe i had too much after havin none at all.
Its okay to have a few drinks, but im not going to do that all the time and get sucked back into the whole. Im happy the way i am at the moment, i think i drank because it gave me confidance, i lack a lot of that. now im babling....

I can go without drinking for a while, like the last week and a half, but thats mainly beacuse I well over did it and ended up in a strangers house. I love to go clubbing and drinking I like to get very merry or drunk but when I get paraletic I kinda feel bad that I over did it. Saying that it takes alot for me to get pissed lol

I used to get that with Dr P and Coke when i was little, it had something to do with the Caffeine and Phenyline (dont know how its spelt) in the drink. I've outgrown it though as it doesnt happen anymore, thank god! lol
i started my 'just water - no milk or coffee' (except milk on cereal) thing yesterday morning. i've done 2 full days of no coffee, fizzy drinks, glasses of milk etc - juts water. i'm finding it really easy at the moment, just because there isn't any coke or whatever that i could go and drink at the moment. that'll be there hardest when we have some in the fridge and my brother has the lot to himself

I could do this very easily. Infact all I really drink is water or orange juice. I couldnt do it for 6 weeks cos Id end up going out and Id look a reyt pillock sat in a bar with a pint of water. But yer, generally all I drink is water or diluted orange juice.

anyway, i would find giving up drinking for the nighyt while all my mates are drinking much easier than trying to avoid pouring myself a coke by mistake lol

Bone contains alot of calcium, if you dont fancy eating bone then Wholemeal Bread has a lot of calcium, so do figs, almunds and brazil nuts.

I take Calcium tabets and Tablets for every other Vitamin anyway. Have done for a few years. Dunno why but that should cover the milk I aint getting. :P
Been doing this for a week and a day now. Skin is starting to feel a little softer. :/
feelin ill, got a cold [how?], am i allowed to drink medical fluids e.g. honey and lemon. cause if not am stopping it
i have had to drink a honey and lemon drink, i am to ill :puke: :( . will though continue with water, after recovery
ok i got real bad stomach cramps the last 2 days and ive had a pain in my kidneys, i've been drinking too much water and it's killing me. i'm adding milk to my 'allow list' abut still carrying on with it. just milk and water now. not having anything else to drink for the remaining 5 weeks.

the 6 weeks is over. i duno if shane is back on fizzy drinks yet, but i'm not, it's been about 8 weeks now, i'm feeling great and glad i went for it. i'm keeping this up for a while too. just whenever i feel like i wana give it in and drink something else.

nahh its ALL i drink n i mean all i drink. mi mam took me to docs cos i was consuming too much of it. i drink like 4 of them 2litre bottles everyday, at the least! n if i cant be ased to dilute it then i drink it like un-diluted lol. n then theres thm bottles and cartons n tht, tht i buy through the day.... so i have alot of the stuff lol

I used to drink strange amounts of energy drinks and aint got a craving for it at all. I ain't just drinking plain water, flavoured water and orange juice etc. Anything to get off stuff like Pepsi

i have started the water challenge not been doing it for long but im still going strong, i`ll try to keep everyone updated it sort of reminds me of 40 days and 40 nights but without the sex...

I drank nothing but water for the whole summer. Me and my cousin walked a few miles into the forest near his house and drank it from the stream every day. Now I'm here in the city and water isn't so good anymore. :(

I would highly recommend drinking water other than anything else like soda or juices, which is made up of loads of sugar which is bad for ya. Your body is made up of 70% water. You need water to hydrate yourself. I've heard this around town but the best way to determine how much water you should drink per day is to take your body weight and divide by two. This number gives you the amount of water in ounces you should drink. So lets say you weigh 200 pounds. You should drink 100 ounces of water per day. I don't know what that works out to be maybe just over 2 litres. I try to drink 3 litres a day, just because of my activity level it makes more room for more water.
10 Reasons why drinking water is good for you
1. Get healthy skin. Drinking water moisturizes your skin from the inside out. Water is essential to maintaining elasticity and suppleness and helps prevent dryness. (Which will help with the ance you were talking about Shane.)
2. Lose weight. Increased water consumption can help you control weight by preventing you from confusing hunger with thirst. Water will also keep your body systems working properly, including metabolism and digestion, and give you the energy (and hydration) necessary for exercise. (Drink water if you are hungry, it will help you lose weight.)
3. Flush toxins. By helping to flush toxins, appropriate water intake lessens the burden on your kidneys and liver. (You'll notice you will have to use the restroom about twice as much as you normally would for about the first week until your body starts to function with the larger intake of water. Once your bladder adapts, you will be able to make less visits to the toilet :))
4. Reduce your risk of a heart attack. Researchers at Loma Linda University in California studied more than 20,000 healthy men and women and found that people who drink more than five glasses of water a day were less likely to die from a heart attack or heart disease than those who drank fewer than two glasses a day. (Helps with blood flow and blood clogs.)
5. Cushion and lube your joints and muscles. Water makes up a large part of the fluid that lubricates and cushions your joints and muscles. Drinking water before, during, and after exercise can also help reduce muscle cramping and premature fatigue. (This is soooo important to drin kwater when you exercise. Before and after! I usually drink half a litre before I workout, and half a litre while I work out, and half a litre after I work out, plus orange juice with my protein powder after.)
6. Stay regular. Water helps prevent constipation by adding fluid to the colon and bulk to stools, making bowel movements softer and easier to pass.
7. Stay hydrated, get energized, and be alert. On average, most adults lose about 10 cups of fluid a day through sweating, exhaling, urinating, and bowel movements. Even minor dehydration can cause impaired concentration, headaches, irritability, and fatigue. (So continually drink it throughout the day. Don't just be like oh well I'm going to try to drink my 2 litres before noon. NO. Rule of thumb, don't drink 3 hours before you goto bed, this way if there is excess in your bladder, it will pass through before you hit the sack.)
8. Regulate your body temperature. Perspiration is your body's natural mechanism to control body temperature. And to sweat, you need plenty of water.
9. Reduce your risk of disease and infection Water can help prevent kidney stones and reduce your chances of getting bladder, kidney, and urinary tract infections. One study found that women who drank more than five glasses of water a day had a risk of colon cancer that was 45 percent less than those who drank two or fewer glasses a day. (My sister for examples doesn't eat or drink the right kinds of food and beverages. She just had her bladder scopes because of major pains throughout her teenage life, and it's simple because she is not drinking water. Therefore she cannot flush the infections out or prevent them! She's dumb like that.)
10. Get well. The traditional prescription to "drink plenty of fluids" when you're sick still holds strong. Water can help control a fever, replace lost fluids, and thin out mucus.
Simply put, drink as much of it as you can handle. Just buy a bottle of water, and keep refilling it all day!
