Haha. I do that all the time.

I once remember a flash of light and the side of a black car, as it 'hit' me. And I jumped at the impact and woke up like O__O.

I hate it when things fall on you in your sleep, or your bed slats fall through. Wakes you up with a bloody surprise. lol.

Fall

To dream that you fall and not frightened, signifies that you will overcome your adversities with ease.
To dream that you fall and are frightened, denotes a major struggle and overwhelming problem in your life. It may denote that you have failed to achieve a goal that you have set forth for yourself.
To see someone fall, signifies your secret desire for the downfall or even death of that person. You will triumph over your enemies.

I have those dreams ever so often.
I wake up right before I hit the ground. They say you die if you actually hit the ground in your dream, but I'm not sure I believe that. But then again, I've never reached the ground to see if it's true.

i think "floating" is something to do with thinking logically whilst we sleep! Where our brains start to "wake up" so to speak, or "activate" lol. Our bodies are like computers, can be turned on or off, and we rest lol.

When I dream, I usually notice it, and I have somewhat of control over it, so when I fall in dreams, I usually jump and wake up. It's sort of funny for me...

i always have those dreams where you jolt awake but can never remember what the dream was.
i also have those ones where you throw your arm out to break a fall and you wake up because you've jst thrown out your arm.

i seldom get dreams like that. But when I do,i don't know why, but i don't feel scared at all .. instead, i feel carefree. Is that weird or what?

I think 'falling' dreams just mean an indication of insecurities, instabilities, and anxieties. You are feeling overwhelmed and out of control in some situation in your waking life. This may reflect the way you feel in your relationship or in your work environment.
When you fall, there is nothing that you can hold on to. You more or less are forced toward this downward motion without any control. This lost of control may parallel a waking situation in your life.

Falling dreams also often reflect a sense of failure or inferiority in some circumstance or situation. It may be the fear of failing in your job/school, loss of status, or failure in love. You feel shameful and lack a sense of pride. You are unable to keep up with the status quo or that you don't measure up.

I spent 3 weeks on this in Psychology last year, I'm surprised i remember it ¬.¬

I'm so glad I've read this thread, I thought I was the only one who had this. I get it mostly when I'm having a bad dream but sometimes out of nowhere too, I hate it :(

Edit: Just read Luke's post, very interesting and I think it would explain alot if that is the reason behind the 'falling'.

Not when I'm dreaming, but it has happened as I'm falling off to sleep. Suddenly I feel like I'm falling and my entire body wakes up with this horrible jolt. Unpleasant :(
