thousands are now dying in Pakistan, and millions have nothing left because of the worst floods in decades, and Zardari isn't home.
some argue that he's ignoring the catastrophe that's hit his country, and not helping at all. others say that in reality he is helping as in fact his visits helped raise international relief fund.

should he really be criticized?
let's discuss.

I fail to understand how with this section of the forums being titled "News, Debate, and Politics" and all, you expect there to be all non-serious threads yo, but that's just me

as for the president not supporting his people, it wouldn't be the first time this happened in the world and it won't be the last, so I'm apathetic to it, I only care about the U.S. to be quite honest

Some (and by some I mean most) of the members here use the ''new posts'' button to keep up with the forum, and pay no mind to the actual section they're in.

Hope that explains your ''I fail to understand....'' thing.

Hope that explains your ''I fail to understand....'' thing.yeah, it does

it tells me that those people are quite slow on the uptake if they can't pay attention to what they're clicking

I never use that because I like to show an interest in things rather then randomly posting shit in every single topic.

Apparently the paki's are receiving like £5mil's worth of aid or something now. To be honest though I really don't care, I'm bored of all these floods and earthquakes and our countries having to help them when we're trying to get ours back on track.
I am not sure how accurate any of that is, but I'm just fed up of hearing about how the UK and US are paying out to any shit country that is having a bit of a rough time recently.

Yep, that seems to be what it always comes down to. As if U.K, and the states don't have enough of a hard time looking after their own. Besides, how come the gov. can keep forking out money for other countries, yet keeps cutting back on things for people in Britain?

Yeah, it's nice to think if there's ever any devastating event here that we can't recover from ourselves, no other country will give a fuck.

I'll probably give a bit of money tomorrow when I'm out, I know the Red Cross always have appeals for natural disasters and the like.

I don't know enough about the President and why he's here talking to Cameron. What surprises me is that so many people I know haven't even heard about the floods. Think back to the Sumatra tsunami, and how that was pretty much plastered all over the news, and charities appealing for donations everywhere. I hate to admit it, but the fact that there are probably very few white europeans or Americans over in Pakistan at the moment is likely the reason there hasn't been much coverage.

I hate this view of ''Let's look after our own and screw the foreigners'' that British people seem to have. If the tables were turned you'd be bitching about why these people weren't helping us. Simple fact is- we're all humans, and we should all help each other. The fact we're from different countries shouldn't even come into it.

I'd like to know what the current Pakistani residents of Britain are doing to help the cause.

Ah, don't worry about that. It's all a function of how many TV cameras and satellite dishes there are around. That's why two countries were invaded as a result of a couple of planes hitting a well-known pair of buildings in New York, while other events with a similar number of casualties have gone virtually unnoticed.

Besides, the mud in Pakistan is so similar to India's or wherever they get flooded every now and then. No juicy footage, and the locals speak poor English. And nowhere comfy for the reporters to stay. So the news find something else to report about.

this thread isnt about rich countries helping poor countries, but anyway. I am so so sad to see that we still have such a problem. yes I call it a problem, because I don't see how the world will advance if we still fucking think this way.
I need to barf.

Just because you don't have jack shit to say doesn't mean fluff quips are warranted.
