Been rock climbing for years. if you want the best climbing come to sheffield!
the peaks is the only place with ignius metamophic and sedimentary rock all in one place.
feels good man

been climbing a few times, mostly on artificial walls though. if you want to increase your grip strength rock climbing is the best thing out there, my instructor could do pull ups with one finger :s
it was quite fun, but not really an aggressive enough sport for my liking.

i've done rockclimbing recently - up one of those indoor walls that have the things you put your feet on.
enjoyed it.

indoor climbing is great fun. but it is supposed to be bad weather training for outdoor excusions.

Yeah at the moment I just go once a week inside to get methods nailed down but considering how awesome Bristol was Im well up for doing more outside. In fact i think im actually gonna be in the peaks next month for a bit of sport climbing. Although I much preferred the multi-pitch trad cimbs...should give them a go Soggy, its much more of a rush. :P

Multi pitch trad is complete win.
you getting into it then?
i advise spending some time setting gear on easy routes for a couple of weeks and then leading some bigger stuff. there is a much bigger adrenaline hit on that kind of stuff

Yeah man, Ive been practicing leading indoors but i think ill have to wait for the peaks to practice putting nuts and such in as theres nowhere outdoors here to do it really :/ although isnt it mostly sports climbs there? Leading is pants-shit-tastic though, cant imagine doing it up a multipitch :P when i did it i was the middle man, so i had to do it with the rope drag...which made things interesting, plus move the carabinas from the front rope to the back one...which i guess would be in the right direction for learning to lead...maybe...

Yeah I need to get out more though, no one seems to want to climb as much as I do. Peaks is mostly trad at least where I've been, not allowed to put bolts in Stanage or whatever.

Sometimes people do climbing at this place called Pex Hill near to where I live

leading a multi pitch route is one of the most axhilerating [sic] things you wil ever do.
placing gear is something you will only get with practice but you could hang a bus off some gear placings i have set up.
I have had to leave loads of nuts on crags before becuase i couldnt get them out.

Old thread, but no bump!
I actually started indoor climbing recently. Done the training sessions, and now I just have the assessment session to go, and I can climb whenever I like! YAY!
I actually managed to impress the instructor. Didn't realise I'd even done it, but apparently I got my foot up to a hold level with my head. Just need more finger strength.
