yeah he's actually a really smart person. i saw him in bowling for columbine and he was really articulate and made really great points and i was very suprised. personally, i hate his music. its too angry and very depressing. the only one i can somewhat manage is beautiful people, but even then i don't like it. he's an interesting person thoug.

If you're going to have an opinion, shouldn't it be based on something? And am I the only one who realizes there's a difference between not liking a band and a band with little or not talent? 1) They don't scream about death and/or Satan. Read their lyrics, you should know better. If you can't understand what they're really talking about in at least most of half of their songs, then there's something wrong.
2) What is "goth music" is your opinion, you have no facts to base that on. Nor do you have facts to base your assumptions that all people who listen to Slipknot are goth and they think they're so "dark and gothic" because they listen to them.
3) At least you used the word "generally" this time; it adds a bit of intelligence to that post. However, this is probably the most unfounded claim and is just blatantly false.

These are my opinions on the bands, bearing in mind I have read nothing beforehand.

Marilyn Manson: I just don't like him. I listen to a little gothic and black metal but I just don't like Marilyn Manson. I am ok with bands like Cradle of filth and Dimmu Borgir though, although I do not listen to them all that much.

Slipknot: I usually listen to power metal, and the occasional small bit of thrash. But occasionally there are times when I want to listen to some heavy music so I turn on death metal. I have only heard one song from Slipknot, and I cannot remember which one, I remember thinking that it did not have that great a rythm.

I respect them, but it is just not the sort of band I listen to. What I can't stand are people criticising bands like this for "growling or screaming" and not singing. The death metal singers train exceptionally hard to be able to sing like that, and most of them can sing very well. It is a skill even if you don't recognize it as one, I am sure it is the same for Slipknot.
