I mentioned something like this, my mum got it from the chemist not too sure how much it was though! Try using toothepaste that might help, if you haven't got the money for that Magnesium Sulphate.

The worlds best treatment for spots/pimples/acne/whatever you call them is:
No Soft Drink/Soda/Pop (ie. Coke, Pepsi, etc)
No Fatty Foods (chips, pizza)
Cut down on your Carbohydrate and Sugar (glucose, fructose - all sugars!!) intake
Eat 5 serves of veges and 2 serves of fruit everyday
No alcoholIt sucks, no it really does.. but it works. Alternative, you should see your GP and he/she will be able to prescribe something.
I have heard of Doxycycline tablets being used (25mg tablets, once daily with food). Glycolic Acid (as an active ingredient in a face mask/wash) may also work. There is also a product in Australia called "Benzac" which has 50mg/g of Benzoyl Peroxide which is a popular recommendation of some GPs. The only thing that worked for me was the evil diet above though... After being on that for three months the results were amazing. Then after the three months, you can slowly add some of the foods u like IN MODERATION.
Peaceout,
Matty

pimples are created because of oil on the face.
if you keep your pours clean and let them breathe, then your pimples will not form. if you exercise and sweat a lot, that also helps, but keep your face clean from oil. Use like an oil free cleanser. My sister uses PORACTIV, I duno if you guys have heard of it, her face was bad, but now shes doing fashion shots a a school of fashion. Proactiv changed her life, and I am starting to use it as well, and so far, I've not seen massive results, because i just started using it, but give that a try. It's a once a day cleanser for your body basically. You can use it on your face, arms and back.

What they said. It's important to keep your pores clean. Wash your face twice a day, and if you're sweating, wash it three. If you were a girl I'd tell you not to wear makeup for a while and to wash it off all the time, but I don't think you wear makeup.

Anti biotics work but if you keep taking them you have to keep taking them or they will get worse!

July 14th '05, 03:05 PM
The thing with antibiotics is you'll become nonreceptive to them if you take them all the time. Your body will become imune to them, kinda. Only take those if you really need them and are sick, because if you just use them for anything they won't work when you really need um.
Birth Control pills help with zits, too.

Riccardo
July 15th '05, 12:36 AM
But wine gums are loaded with sugar so it won't really make any diffrence
Shane
July 15th '05, 12:44 AM
Yeah but the doctor says i need a large intake of sugar so i guess just having wine gums instead of wine gums AND chocolate might help a bit!!

spots are caused by a hormone imbalance and so apparently food does not affect you. if you eat tons and tons of chocolate and sweets then yeah, of course your gonna get spots and get fat too but the odd bar or packet isnt going to make much of a difference! As long as you have a balanced diet you can eat what you like (within reason) my motto-everything in moderation:D

Erm.. yeah.. lol. Well I use the Panoxyl also mentioned as Benyzl Peroxide. It sorted my face out, heh, and I think Miss Jess started using it too... You can get it in three percentages, over the counter and it's pretty cheap. Obviously for healthy skin you have to eat healthy. You put good stuff in, you get good stuff out. So if you eat sh*t, your skin and hair will look the same.. You eat healthy, your skin and hair will show it. That's how I go by anyway!
I eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and quite a balanced diet instead of processed crap, and my skin is reasonably healthy and my hair is shiney. People are often saying my hair's really shiney. It's kinda scary but nice. Hehe.

yer water helps to get rid of spots, seriously! Although food doesnt have much to do with it eating loads of chocolates and especially greasy food can help spots develop. and ur right all the oxy action crap doesnt work, using soap and water is the best way!! unless you get something from a pharmacist

Ok this is THE best treatment for spots.
Simply goto your doctor, he'll put you on some shit anti-biotics tht will more than likely have no effect at all unless ur on it for a stupid amount of time.
Once your dam course is done, you'll probally see no effect or little effect.
Ask to be trasnfered to a dermatologist.
These guys give you this ace drug called roactuane - after about 3 weeks you'll see a difference.
It drys out your pores which stops the spots, its ace, probally the best thing you can have, only good if your in the UK really, your GP wont give it you because it costs alot, but once you go see your dermatologist they will.
Although they advise girls not to go on it, just incase they were to get pregnant, as it can effect the unborn baby.
And the drug has side effects such as dry lips.
but there u go lol

August 1st '05, 09:31 PM
I get dry lips anyway sometimes so it would not bother me! Can you buy it cause i dont want to have to wait to get it! :P

in my experience, the stuff on tv is a load of bollocks ("i used this product once and they all magically disappeared in 3 days!" - total bollocks!)
been back to the doctors, he put me back on oxytetracycline and gimme this cream stuff in a tube, its called PanOxyl Aquagel, im on it for a few months, see how it goes.
Shane
October 29th '05, 07:45 AM
Most of the stuff the doctors gives me makes me get a rsh and my skin all peels, then bleeds! :S
There has to be something I can use!
Mamfy
October 29th '05, 07:46 AM
It's because everyone's skin is different, therefore react differently to certain products.
I just wish there was one product that got rid of them completely for me. It's so annoying:(

October 29th '05, 08:04 AM
Whats the worst that could happen?
Anyway I think I might give the doctor a visit soon and get some info from him to publish on here to see if it helps anyone. I am sure he will do it if I lob his name on there too, makes him look good! ;)
Mamfy
October 29th '05, 08:06 AM
Yeah lol, put a link to his practise:)
I don't want to go onto tablets because they are so strong and I'm only a little person! So I am praying that this roll on stuff works!
Plus, food doesn't have anything to do with gaining spots. It's all about the hormones man.
Shane
October 29th '05, 08:10 AM
I know its all about the hormones but all the greasy foods I eat cannot be helping.
Anyway, if anyone has anything article wise or any ideas at all for advice on health etc then please PM me, I want this to be a pro-active commmunity and I want everyone to help run it and contribute towards its growth. :)

My brother had really bad acne and he ended up going to a dermatologist who gave him anti-biotics and creams to clear it up, and it worked a treat.
But if you don't want that. The simple solution is to use hot water, splash it on your face, then give your face a good clean with whatever you normally use, be it soap, or a face wash. Clean it off using hot water again, and then splash cold water on your face.
Hot water opens the pores on your body allowing the soap etc to clean out the infection or whatever may be in the pores, and the cold water closes the pores, thus keeping whatever was in your pores out in so much as is possible. I don't reccomend putting on too much make-up for a while if you're clearing up spots, because all you are doing then is forcing make-up into the pores when they do open. So if it's for a special occasion, I would suggest that. It's not a sure thing, but it's cheaper than meds.

I use a facial scrub every other day that normally keep my spots away.
I've have never really been bad with spots.
I always moisturise after i shave athough i dont think that makes any diffrence with spots but it keeps my skin nice and soft as does the facial scrub.
If you go on anti biotics for your spots you have to keep taking them and your body is gonna get used to them. so won't it lessen the effect when you have a serious need for them?

I think there was a test to prove that fatty foods do not give you spots. A face cleanser helps, twice daily, and if you still have problems then go to your doctor.
