Based on the controversial premise that there is a conspiracy within the Catholic Church to cover up the true story of Jesus. According to this premise, the Vatican knows it is living a lie but continues to do so to keep itself in power.
The novel has helped generate popular interest in speculation concerning the Holy Grail legend and the role of Mary Magdalene in the history of Christianity. Fans have lauded the book as creative, action-packed and thought-provoking. Critics have attacked it as poorly written, inaccurate and creating confusion between speculation and fact. From a religious point of view, some critics consider it sacrilegious, and decry the many negative implications about the Catholic Church and Opus Dei

Do you think that the Catholic Church is covering up the bloodline of Jesus?
That Mary Magdalene is really the Holy Grail, because if her body is found,
they can scientifically prove that there is a bloodline?
Or do you think that the movie is just another conspiracy theory?

Just another conspiracy theory if you ask me, it was just a book after all, straight from the imagination of Dan Brown.

Yeah very creative story line in my eyes but conspiracy theories annoy me

I hate when people get so bent out of shape about the DaVinci Code. It's fiction. Who cares about the relative level of accuracy? It's just like this kid who was whining about how Fullmetal Alchemist was "full of shit" because alchemy wasn't really like that. Fiction, dudes!

What I don't understand is How come no ones going on Talk Shows about this book/movie? When The Passion Of The Christ (TPOTC) came out all hell was broke loose because it was about Jesus and how he died on the cross. The Da Vinci Code (TDVC) is talking about how all of its not true and a lie, and then adding its own lies into it! I didn't like TPOTC personally only because of having to sit their and read the subtitles. As for TDVC it had a pretty crappy ending! And TDVC is full of crap. There maybe little bits of truth in it but Dan Brown took the truth and just streached it into one BIG lie. So like others have said above me, TDVC is Fiction.

The Passion owned. If you are getting into it then you don't notice subtitles. :P
Still not read TDVC but it's sat right next to me. :P

You're missing the point. Because it's fiction, there's no point in wailing about how it's all "a big lie!!!1". Do you go around posting about how "OMG!! The Lord of the Rings is a lie!!"? Christ, people!
