I hope you're not suggesting I have 'horrid taste'.. Because to be honest, I don't care what other people think about what I wear. I wear what I do because I feel comfortable and happy, not for any other reason.

And converse are around 30 quid, depending on where you buy them from. And that's like, half the price of a lot of skating shoes. And a lot of the average trainers categorised as 'chav' really.

A LOAD of you wear trainers which you consider 'fashionable', 'cool' or 'stereotyped', because your friends wear them, because people who you admire wear them.. Loads of reasons.

So how can you point the blame at someone else because they feel comfy wearing something at they like?

It really gets me these days how people say to me, "Oh, you're just wearing them to be in with the crowd." Etc, etc. Most people these days only follow fashions or trends, some deny it, some don't.

Why isn't it accepted that I can wear trainers because they're comfy and express my creative but slightly mad personality? Or I wear tops and jeans because they're what I feel most comfy in?

It's just.. Agh. I just think, why criticize me, or Jess, or Ellie or who ever else wears Converse, when nearly everyone else is wearing something to 'fit in' or 'follow a trend', yet you don't criticize them? Is it because you like what they wear too? Or you do just the same?

Emo has always been a dress sense. Most of the music I have heard peopel describe as Emo is just rock, lets face it. Emo is a dress sense / culture just like goths/chavs/townies etc.

They all go along with what each other do so they all listen to the same music and they all act like each other so they are all apathetic. I listen to Dashboard Confessional or Further Seems Forever and happily sing along to it, an Emo listens and a tear rolls down their cheek.

How are goths scary? I dont know about the people who dress goth anywhere else in the world, but in Brisbane it's mostly 14-17 year old guys and girls who want something a little different. Some of them want to stand out, some of them like the clothes, some of them just enjoy being around other people who are willing and able to accept them for who they are. They're not strange scary people, they're just normal kids who dress differently. Most of them are really nice kids too. I have yet to come across a 'real goth' who actually believes in all that satanic crap that they're associated with.

And from reading this thread, to make a point that my shoes weren't just a fad, I still like Converse. They're comfortable for casual wear. They're also unbelievably popular now actually, oddly enough. All guys at my college seem to wear them, seems they've lost the "emo" label.
