Are Aliens real or what?

There is so much speculation about what's out there.

And by aliens I mean Intelligent, Living Lifeforms, not the dead worms they found fossilised on mars a few years back.

Not sure.

There's definitley other forms of life out there somewhere.

It might sound very 'geeky' but i'm interested in stuff like this. Outer space and other planets etc interests me proper lol.

I think there might be another living form somewhere out there.
I am interested in things like that too.

I don't believe in aliens.
I don't find them interesting either.
I'm interested in hot guys!:hump:

There's a high probability that there are some, something like the Drake Equation shows this [but that's old and could be outdated]. So while I don't actively believe in them, I certainly don't disbelieve in them.

I don't believe there are aliens in THIS universe, but could be in another.

It's a possibility.

I believe in aliens because the universe is to big for us to be the only intelligent lifeforms out there

I don't.
Considering the solar system we inhabit.
I mean, there are numerous planets and planet-sized moons floating around. And all of this material that scientists claim represent the building blocks of life, and how many worlds orbiting our son developed such life? 1.
The Mars microbes turned out to be nothing. Titan is a frozen hell. Venus is lashed by acid rains and is under incredible atmospheric pressure. The worlds we've studied so far, limited as they are by our own lack of scientific innovation (still boosting rockets into space by liquid fuels), no propulsion systems yet invented that would even come close to giving us economical interplanetary travel - much less ist') seem to indicate that conditions on the majority of planets and moons is far too inhospitable to life as we know it to cultivate a healthy alien fungus, much less Ewoks and Wookies.
And take S.E.T.I., NASA, and the Russians. How long have they been scanning the skies, listening? Every night for decades and decades, waiting for that one little signal that they can pick out of the background crackle of space as a "Hello" from E.T., and nothing.
We're alone.
We'd best get used to the idea.

I disagree.
I very much doubt there are life forms in our solar system, but the universe is a very large place. infact if you think there are life forms out there then they MUST be in the universe. the universe goes on forever.
maybe you got a little confused?
first theres
-solar systems then
-galaxys. ares is called the milky way. then theres
-the universe, which is everything and never ends.

I hate the word alien, i use life forms.
i was talking about this last night, and i could go on forever.
i believe there is something in out galaxy and furthermore elsewhere.
not green things or whatever, i believe there are many different things, there must be life forms out there very similar to humans.

I think there are other forms of live out there, i mean we are not the only lifeform on earth. so there must be another kind of life out there. maybe there so far away our technologys arnt advanced enough to reach us, and if there are other lifeforms out there they may not be devoped enough to contact us just like we can't them!

Maybe the are other life forms but they are none humanoid or simply on another plane of exsistance! For all we know earth could be inhabited by other beings on another plane of exsistance!

Yeah, if there are alien lifeforms on other planets, it's highly doubtful that they'd be humanoid or even resemble anything from earth. Different planets have different gravitational structures, orbits, length of day versus length of night, seasons and weather conditions, chemical composition, atmosphere, etc. ad nauseum, so all in all I'd suspect they'd be pretty damn different. On the other hand, there are other planets that are Earth-like, and in all probability there are quite a number that are Earth-like, so I guess I'd say there's a chance there may be a few with life resembling what we have here. It's hit-and-miss, and given the size of the Universe, there are probably a fair number of 'hits' besides us.

I believe in them, they dont have to be green a n d s t u f f.
theres a never ending space out there- there has to be some sort of life form on a planet in an even bigger solar system than ours!

I'm torn. The conditions for life as we know it are very specific. But, perhaps there is a lifeform that doesn't require such specifics? Will we ever really know for sure?

I'm leaning towards a yes on this one. I believe there are other life forms out there somewhere. When I think "aliens" I think cartoon like figures with big green blobby heads. I don't think these creatures exist.

well i dont believe in actual aliens but i do believe there must be somthing out there, surely.

I think there are other forms of live out there, i mean we are not the only lifeform on earth. so there must be another kind of life out there. maybe there so far away our technologys arnt advanced enough to reach us, and if there are other lifeforms out there they may not be devoped enough to contact us just like we can't them!

totally agree. i dont no why people keep imagining that ' the other life forms' are more intelligent than us... they could be still stuck back in the devleoping years.

also the fact that right now the univers has not limit of space that we no of, while there may not be other living things in our universe it doesnt mean there arnt things further out.

i watched a doco on tv and they said because the univers is so huge it was possible that other life forms simlpy didnt find our universe interesting enough, like it would seem so under developed compared to them so wouldnt be very appealing , i mean if there were such intelegent other living creatures out there why would they find earth intersting? or our solar sytem?
looking at the big picture we still have a long way to go interms of development.

but yea im open minded to somthing being out there and i find things like space interesting , but seriously i dont expect to find anything big for a fair while yet.

This thread makes me laugh, 2 good quotes!

We'd best get used to the idea.

lol, I think most people are actually fairly well adjusted to the fact of there not being aliens popping down to earth and saying hello.

Yeah, if there are alien lifeforms on other planets, it's highly doubtful that they'd be humanoid

Did you really need to add 'oid,' onto the end of Human...

I don't believe in the western interpretation of aliens, but I think it's ridiculous that we're the only ones in the universe. That's a rather egocentric line of thinking.
