I haven't got a clue wat i wana do after im finished with education, i duno wat i wana do as a full time job wen im older!
im going to 6th form this year, then if everything goes ok, il go to university (probably would be nice to take a year out working before i go to uni) but once im finished at uni and im ready to settle down in a job, il need to have decided wat i wana do exactly! obviously i will have had to make the choice of wat i study at uni, which will determine which line of work i will be in.
also, whenever asked the question "wat do you want to do when you grown up?" by elderly relatives i get birthday cards off but i dont really know, i always answered "something to do with computers" as its wat ive been into for years and i love designing and coding and processing etc but i failed IT at GCSE and therefore am not allowed to carry it on at A-Level, which means i cant study it at uni, so im screwed as far as my career in IT is concerened, looks like il have to find something else to do for a living...http://www.teenageforums.com/forums/images/icons/icon11.gif
does anyone else not know wat they wana do?
does anyone have any ideas for me?

You and I are in the same exact position. I've always wanted to be maybe a doctor, or something like that, but it requires people who can do math and science...and math and science doesn't come easy for me. (I guess science does, but still it requires math do do some of it...) So I LOVE writing...and i love history too...but i cant think of anything i would want to do with either of those...being a writer is awfully risky, i mean there's no solid jobs really, it's all freelance, and if nobody likes your writing, then you fail, get no money, and so on. So I have absolutely no clue.

Well you could always be a journalist or someone who writes columns for newspapers or magazines.
And Ben, just because you failed your IT GCSE might mean that you can't carry on studying it at Uni but that doesn't mean you can't necessarily persue a job which might involve a bit of IT.

I really don't know either. Medicine intrested me but Maths & Chemistry are two things I can't do. I'd quite like to carry on with theatre studies when I leave school but I highly doubt i'm good enough to take it up as a career.

I'm possibly going to head in the direction of pharmacology. I already know a small amount about drugs, usage and dosage.. Lol. So it's a start :P But it just generally interests me in helping people and that sort of 'thing'. With pharmacy comes quite a level of responsiblity and knowledge, but i'm not sure if that will suit me. I can only hope and see what the future brings.
Oh.. And I'll either be going to Bradford or Manchester university to study pharmacy. At the moment Bradford does a sandwich course which looks rather 'appealing' (ignore the pun!).. Yet Manchester has a fantastic student area.
However, like I said, I've just got to wait to see what the future brings for me!

All I can say is, Just because you hear people saying that a job is hard or difficult to get into, doesn't mean you aren't capable of achieving it! You should take what everyone says with a pinch of salt and push yourself to get iot if you wnat it that bad:) In the end, you don't know until you've tried

thanks guys, yeh i went to the induction for the IT course in 6th form, and explained my situation and showed them my grades theyre letting me on!
i had my first lesson this morning (well its saturday now, has been for 3.5 hours, but anyway, it was good, it went well.
my other options were politics, maths and english literature. had maths today too, it went much better than i thought, as they specify a minimum entry requirement for you get get a B (which i did) and they prefer it if you took the higher paper, but i did the intermediate, which just means theres more new stuff for me.
politics seems fine, havent had a proper lesson yet, but i seem to have picked up the basics to how it all works and have generated intelligent opinions and a good argument etc, its general knowledge, but it could be challenging later on in the course, writing essays etc.
im going to drop english, ive decided, because they want you to have got 2 Bs, i got a B and a C, im on the course, but itl be so hard cos im in a class full of As and A*s, so theyll be moving on quickly and il be left behind struggling. itll make it easier as studying 4 subjects will be a huge challenge for me, and im going to have to work real hard at them akll. 3 will suit me better.
can the ones who said they pretty much know wat they wana do, tell us their ideas and reaons and how they can/will get there, and wat they will do to get around it if something cocks up along the way, like a failing grade

i had no idea what i wanted to do, but before i left school my baby brother was born and i loved taking care of him, so he was a big influence, my decision to go to college and not 6th form was because of him

My associates (two year degree which I don't yet have) is in "Science" I think. The other two are business and art. The classes that I am taking (they are all planned out because it is easy to find out the mandatory clsses and decide which ones are best...) will also give me a business degree.
I'm going to find out where I want to live and then find a job there. I can advance and try different positions at the company. As long as you've a general plan (know whether you like art or science or if you're good at math or language, etc.) then you should be fine figuring out what classes you'll like.
Find out the requirements for a degree, decide which classes you want to take, then find a company that hires people who like the things that you like.

The career choice software and programs at school are the worst thing you can do. It can be discouraging when you don't even know the answes to the questions (and if you did know then it would be easy to find the right career on your own).
I remember that the lady counselor in mid school asked me how far I was along in the program (when everyone does it in a big room together) and I said "I don't know" because I only played games and she told me that I have a short-term memory and that I might smoke marajuana. She needs a clue! No one likes her software that she bought (even though she probably spent $40,000 on it), lol [I actually doubt she bought it (the school must have) but I'd like to think she did for the purpose of ridicule].
Okay... the software and even the counselor aren't that bad, but they certainly didn't help me.

Deep down I have no idea what I want to do, I'm applying for a few warehouses just until I decide to go to college, an the fact that I'll have to pay for them now probably.
Just wish I had gone to college, but I might not have even found this site if I had have gone to college, meh....I'm glad to be where I am, but I'm not happy about not knowing what I wanna do in life....an I need to pick up the pace alot right now.

I don't have the faintest clue as to what I want to do.
I'm not majorly interested in anything, and I can't really see myself in the future at this point.
I just know i want to go to college after I graduate.
