My Grandad actually just died from the exact same thing less than two weeks ago, i don't really want to go into detail on here about it because obviously i'm still upset about it, but all i can tell you is that my Grandad managed to last way longer than the doctors said he would have (back in January they gave him a matter of weeks to live, and here we are almost 10 months later...). It really depends how far along the cancer is and what type of cancer it is, there is the type that is inoperable and the type that is able to be removed with an operation, it all depends on what type your grandad has as to how long he has left.

Look on the bright side though, he could last a few years with it if he is given the proper care, i think my grandad was diagnosed with it at least 2-3 years ago.

I hope this helps you.

thanks, the one good thing for me is he survived through it the first time and my dad took him to hospital on tuesday, and he is having an operation, so maybe that is a good sign.

The operations are really hit and miss i'm afraid, my Grandad also had mutilple operations to try and remove it, and while it did prolong his life it didn't get it all out. I hope for your sake that they get it all out and your Grandad is fine.

I don't mean to be blunt, but trust me, you are best off knowing the facts instead of some deluded fantasy that your parents might try to tell you to comfort you.

My grandma died of cancer. It was initially ovarian, but by the time it was found, she was riddled with it, and nothing could be done. :( She was so ill, and it was awful. They didn't give her an expectancy, but it was obvious to us, as her family, that she didn't have long left.

Cancer is different for everybody though really, depending on how far the cancer's gone and how well developed it is, and how fit and well the sufferer is. Good luck to your grandad and all your family.

its such a bad part of your life but nothing can change it, why does it always happen to the good people?

Maybe it is just something that everyone has to go through... even though it sucks. Let us know what the results are after the operation.. please...

Doctors don't know everything. It's amazing how much they get wrong.

Good luck, keep your hopes up :)
Always here if you need a chat.
My best friend had cancer when she was 12, what started off as a brain tumour suddenly turned nasty and nobody had much hope, but here she is 3 years later fit as a fiddle with a mound of fuzzy hair.
I really hope it will work out for him, all my love xxxxxx

I feel the same way. I just reccently found out that my grandfather has also gotten prostate cancer. The sad think is that I can't see him until the summer time. I hope that everything works out for your Grandfather.
