i dont think you can really say this until you have a kid.
i dont think i would give it up, if it came from me, then it is going to be as special as anything whether it has any problems or not.
i think its a little bit shallow if someone say's they would adopt it. some people cannot deal with it though, due to illnesses & stuff..and i guess that is understandable

Mentally retarded child are not entirely useless. In Singapore, these children are taught skills in business. I was shopping and there was this little shop filled with really cool bags sewn with beads and embroideries. And I realise that the person selling this is a mentally retarded child. I was very impressed!

I personally wouldn't give up a disabled child, no matter whether it was going to be hard work to care for them or not. It's my child and they would be as precious as any other child I would give birth to.

i work with mental dissabled children, and i think its a disgrace anyone gives them away just because they have somehting wrong with them. They are only humans just the same as everyone else

I wouldnt personally give up a child unles there was nothing I could do and he/she would be better of somewhere else, but i would NEVER give up. I think they deserve respect

ok, this is really a moral issue question. And i would like to point out every person has there own reasons for there personal choice. there are so many ways to look at this. i mean some people would chose to terminate the pregnancy before the baby is born if ther eis a chance or brain damaage or other defaults. If my girlfriend/wife (as i am a bloke i dont give birth lol) gave birth to a child and we found out it had defaults i personally would still keep it. Its your flesh and blood and why give it up now when you've looked after it for 12 months. (or how eva long its inside for lol). But like i said everyone makes different choices based on there religion, peer pressure and mental states etc.

i would keep the child and give them as much love as i would if they werent like that. I think they deserve a special kind of love and patience, and at the same time, can learn to have responsibility and be a little independent. most of them are smart in their own special way. My brother is like that, hes only 2 years old
