How many of u go out in pubs on a night out?
I go out roughly 2/3 times a month.
Recently here in Grimsby the police hired a 14 year old to go out, and she got in all 5 pubs on the riverhead (a row of pubs which are Yates, Lloyds No 1, Walkabout, Fused, and Chicago's) and was server 27 drinks. She didn't get ID'd once by bouncers or bar staff. So all the pubs got a warning and a fine, and now they are ID'ing just about everyone that looks under 25. So harsh for the under 18's now lol i knew a lot of under 18's that went out. Im ok because im 19 :D hehe

well i am of age [legal age is 18 here and ill be 19 very soon] anyways
the first few months of turning 18 as they coincided with the end of year 12, led me to spending every single weekend out - im not joking. i was gone damn near every thursday, friday and saturday. some weeks, id attend mid-week pissups - it was a blast. now that i have "matured" [using the word very very loosly] i go out perhaps 1-2 times a week depending on what i feel like and who i plan on going out with. house parties are different. im always up for them :D anywho... im not REALLY an alcoholic ;) :P

When I go out with the college crew we usually go through the pubs in swinton, and were ok there cause its where I am at the weekend with my dad normally so they know me in most of em, and the last one we end up at which is the main one, I once did a couple o discos there for weddins a few yrs ago, also the college lot know one of the bar staff well, so round there theyre pretty alreyt with us as long as we dont cause trouble.

Were only a few months off of 18 anyways :P

I drink occasionally, but I wouldn't go out of my way to drink to be honest. When I go to gigs every few weeks I sometimes drink, but sometimes I don't. It depends :P

I've got served a couple of times before without being asked for ID, but I doubt it's on my looks or mannerisms, more like they're happy to just get money off ya! :P

Bob!
September 14th '05, 07:44 PM
Havt u seen everywhere now, most places are doing a 21 or over rule which means that if you dont look 21 or over, ull be asked for ID.

I guess it's because young teens now abuse alcohol, so they don't want it in their places..

Or something like that anyway.

I go to the Pub around twice a week. Tues & Thurs are the best as they're Student nights. On the subject of 'underage' drinkers, I fucking hate them. Why? Well they're all giddy little f**kers who ruin good nights out with there 'falling all over the pub crap' & 'asking every one for a fag'. Thank god for the Over 21 RULE!

I drink, if that counts.

How often exactly are we talking here? You are only 17 after all.

I only had alchohal once in my life. Last August I went to this weekend long Taekwon-Do seminar. One of the grand-masters gave me some chocolate flavored alchohal that he smuggled from Korea.

xXxI.Got.Them.Emo.EyesxXx
September 16th '05, 01:55 AM
Yeah, I'm 17...your point?

I drink when I'm at parties...Every other weekend or so. I'm responsable.

Patriot1776
September 16th '05, 07:26 PM
Other than the fact that the drinking age is 21. I can understand every once and awhile, but every other weekend seems kinda excessive.

(Sorry,my dad's a cop. It's kinda in my blood.)

xXxI.Got.Them.Emo.EyesxXx
September 16th '05, 07:53 PM
It's not your life.

Don't worry about it.

Patriot1776
September 16th '05, 08:02 PM
Sorry. I wasn't trying to be a pest, but I've just have had friends about your age whose lives were completely destroyed by starting at such an age. It just has an effect on me when I see anyone drinking underaged.

xXxI.Got.Them.Emo.EyesxXx
September 16th '05, 08:06 PM
I don't drink to escape my life, I'm not an alcoholic, I'm not distroying myself by drinking...

And yes, I'm 17...I'll be 18 in about 5 months. I don't see the difference between drinking now and waiting a few years. Yeah, I might mature a little, but as I said...I'm responsable. I don't drink and drive, I don't lose my morals...I'm fine. I'm a big girl and I can handle myself.

Patriot1776
September 16th '05, 08:08 PM
If you want to it's fine with me. I'm not saying you're irresponsible. It's just when I see anyone doing it it reminds me of them. You're free to make our own decisions and that's fine wth me.

xXxI.Got.Them.Emo.EyesxXx
September 16th '05, 08:10 PM
That's fine.

I don't mean to sound like a bitch, but I don't like younger people telling me that what I do is irresponsable. I don't like getting lectured.

Patriot1776
September 16th '05, 08:12 PM
Sorry. It's not like I enjoy lecturing, but that's just how I am. It's kind of scary when I've met 14 year old who have engaged in sexual activity are are alchoholics. I've just seen too many people who are pretty much destroying their lives without knowing it.

Lecturing is just a bad habit of mine.

xXxI.Got.Them.Emo.EyesxXx
September 16th '05, 08:13 PM
That's fine...but you have to realize that I'm almost 5 years older than you.

I know what I'm doing.

Patriot1776
September 17th '05, 12:30 PM
I'm not trying to start an argument, but the law is the law. People in our history did have to die before alchohol became legal, the least we could do is respect the restrictions that have been set upon it.

Mamfy
September 17th '05, 01:38 PM
Patriot, you can go as far as warning people about the risks there are with drinking and having sex underage and stuff, but all in all, it's up to the person doing it to realise whether they are doing the right thing or putting their life at risk.

Just see it as not your problem, because you are gonna come across loads of people who drunk from a very early age, started smoking when they were ten and got pregnant wehn they were 11 or whatever, thats ;ife I'm afraid:S

*fender.chiq*
September 17th '05, 02:28 PM
That's true Mamfy. I do rant about teenage pregnancy, underage smoking, drinking, the use of sunbeds =o.. But if I rant at the people doing that then I am going to end up offending people, making them angry with me.. and I would have my work cut out.

A lot of people don't have the same views and are happy to risk their life, health and mental health, but that is their own choice. It's a fact of life I'm afraid people I'll have to accept, and where the whole 'looking after number one' comes in to it.

Think for yourself, look after yourself. If people decide to harm themselves through choice, then they are the ones to blame. They know consequences, so it's in their own hands.

I hope I'm not coming across as arrogant, I really don't want that. But I have high morels and standards, and it annoys me when people are harming themselves because of peer pressure and 'looking cool' or whatever. I drink alcohol occasionally, but most often under the supervision and consent of my parents, so it's not completely irresponsible. I eventually came to the conclusion that if people want to take chances with their life, then so be it. They can learn from their own mistakes, and not me nagging them.

xXxI.Got.Them.Emo.EyesxXx
September 17th '05, 02:44 PM
I'm not trying to start an argument, but the law is the law. People in our history did have to die before alchohol became legal, the least we could do is respect the restrictions that have been set upon it.

Yeah, law is law, but I don't agree with it. If you notice, the drinking age in most other countries is alot lower. Our drinking age USED to be 16, then it was 18, and now it's 21.

As I've said, don't worry about me. I'm a big girl, and I'm responsable, believe it or not.

Patriot1776
September 17th '05, 02:45 PM
I was brought up that way. I can't help it. I go to a Catholic school. They always tell us that it is our job to try and stop people from doing this stuff. If you want to look at it legally, if I know about something like this the courts will just consider me an accomplice. That's one of the few problems with our legal system. My dad is also a cop so I tend to come across very forward when someone I know is breaking the law. I can understand every once in awhile. I'll admit that I've had a couple drinks in my lifetime as well. I just believe that every other weekend is a little excessive. I understand that she probably is responsible, but if she gets caught the courts won't care. SInce she is only 17 they might hold off any sort of punishment until she is 18.

I just get angry that so many cops had to get killed by the Mafia before alchohol became legal and then people don't follow the restrictions. I mean alchohol laws are stated in our COnstitution so that tells me it probablky is a very serious offense.

Like I said, I can see from her point of view, but a cop or a judge wouldn't.

xXxI.Got.Them.Emo.EyesxXx
September 17th '05, 02:49 PM
You don't understand my lifestyle, obviously.

Every other weekend isn't that bad. Alot of my friends drink every weekend. The cops here KNOW what happens, and they don't really care anymore. When you live in a town with a population of 500, things aren't taken in that kind of a way. If people get caught, they get a slap on the hand. That's about it.

I don't think you realize that I'm not the only one in the US who drinks underage. Open your eyes, bud. I can almost garentee that alot of the kids in your high school drink. It's not as big of a deal as you're making it out to be.

And if it makes you feel any better, my grandfather was in the mofia when he was alive.

Patriot1776
September 17th '05, 02:53 PM
Fine with me. I've known kids who dirink underage, but many of them have stopped. I just said what I said, you can take it or leave it. That's probably the biggest problem with underage drinking though,it's so common these days that in some towns cops just stop giving a damn.

The high school I plan to go to actually has the highest drinking/drug use rate in Vermont, but it is the only really good high school in Vermont. Maybe it's just because in Vermont we usually have enough cops to control things like this is most towns. But then there are the larger ones where they just give up.

xXxI.Got.Them.Emo.EyesxXx
September 17th '05, 02:57 PM
I can almost bet once you're older your feelings on this subject will change.

Wait till you're in high school.

Patriot1776
September 17th '05, 02:59 PM
I'm not sure. If my dad ever found out that I started drinking underage he would tan my hide. My dad's like that. When he tells me somethings I don't need to think twice.

xXxI.Got.Them.Emo.EyesxXx
September 17th '05, 03:04 PM
Same goes with most of my friends. I hate to break it to you, but you won't be a perfect child your entire life.

It may feel now that drinking and undersage sex and all that stuff is horrible, but once your older and your hormones start doing that thing they do, you might change your opinion. You're only 13!! Don't start lecturing people that are older than you on things you haven't experianced yet.

Patriot1776
September 17th '05, 03:08 PM
I don't plan to be perfect. I've experienced alchohol before. I'll admit that I do fight the urge to want more after having it,but somehow I manage to do it.

I have experienced it indirectly. I've known non-alchoholics who have attempted to commit suicide because of alchhol.(Don't understand why though.) I've known people who were killed because they were drunk.(With some people one shot is all it takes.) Everyday my dad tells me stories of severe accidents he's been to.(Probably to scare me.) My dad occasionally takes me out with his friends who drink almost every weekend.(Some can handle it,some can't) I may not have experienced it directly, but alchohol is part of my life.

xXxI.Got.Them.Emo.EyesxXx
September 17th '05, 03:13 PM
It's a large part of my life, too.

My father was an alcoholic, my grandmother was an alcoholic, my stepsister was killed by a drunk....I know what it's like.

You can't let other people live your life for you, though. For me, I want to experiance things. I don't want to just hear stories about it.

I don't have "urges" to drink. I don't drink because I have to. I drink because I want to. I'm not addicted to it. I can stop. When I first moved out to Colorado, I didn't drink for almost 8 months. I know my limits and I respect them. I don't get piss drunk when I drink. It's nothing like that. If I'm at a party I'll have a beer or two. That's it. Yeah, sometimes I'll have more, but as I've stated before I won't drive, I respect myself and my morals...

I've been drinking for about 3 years, and I've never been in an accident, I'm still a virgin, I'm perfectly healthy. Not everyone acts like a dick when they're drunk.

Patriot1776
September 17th '05, 03:17 PM
Maybe the only reason I am so angry about issues like this...well....because...shit how am I going to say this.

Alright,I'll say it. I almost killed myself last May. I'm not talking cotemplating it or anythings. I mean full fledged almost slicing my wrist or shooting myself. Somehow I managed to stop myself.

It is no longer a problem with me, but ever since then I have been very sensitive about issues like this.

xXxI.Got.Them.Emo.EyesxXx
September 17th '05, 03:20 PM
About drinking? What the hell does that have to do with that?

As I said up there, my stepsister was killed by a drunk. Her and her husband had a fight, she was getting ready to leave, he was drunk, went in and shot her in front of her 4 kids. Then he went and killed himself.

You think I dealt with that lightly? You think I never thought about ending my life because of the mess it became? Please!

Yes, she died because of a drunk, but that was HER life. Not mine. I deserve to live the life I want and not be held back because of past experiances.

I'm not entirely sure why you posted that...maybe you want sympathy...and I'm sorry, but you're not going to get it from me.

If I'm wrong on that assumption, then I apologize, but it comes off like that.

Patriot1776
September 17th '05, 03:24 PM
I don't know what that has to do with drinking. That's just the effect it had on me. I don't want sympathy, that's the last thing I need.

Maybe it's just because I am too afraid of experienceing that again. Unlike you I DON'T know what my limit is. I'm just not willing to take that chance. Just last month my aunt almost commited suicide because of alchohol and drugs. She started drinking about your age.

Like I said,I don't want sympathy. I'll have to face these again in my life. Sympathy would just prevent me from confronting them myself.

I just hope an Administrater comes and resolves this. I'm not going to change my views. YOur not going to change yours. Might as well have someone deltete all these posts.

Sorry to har about your step-sister.

I don't drink, and never will. Drinking causes problems. That's all there is to it. It changes ppl 4 the worst.
In my country I've heard a lot of news stories about men killing or abusing their wives b-cos they're always drunk. A common thing is when a poor family struggles b-cos the husband uses all the money to drink, even the money that the wife works so hard 4 in order to support the family.
I'm not saying it's only men, believe me it isn't, I've also heard of single mothers who drink away all their money, forcing the teens of the family to get work. Infact, it's one of the reasons they've lowered the legal working age to 15 in SA.
Bottom line, I don't want to drink. I've seen so many girls who brag about getting drunk, and it makes me want to slap them and say "what's so gr8 about that?!" Sum teens become alcoholics b-cos they see their parents do the same thing. Others do it b-cos of peer pressure. 2 b honest, I've come close 2 being pressured in2 drinking, but I'm glad that I'm wiser, and never hav been drunk in my life, and plan 2 keep it that way. And that's the way I like it.

Well personally mate my life is running as smoothly as a shit after a curry & I drink quite alot.

It's all about how self discliplined you are & when you know when to stop.

But I think what you said about not drinking is a smart thing mate. As a good night out can cost you £60+ & when you've student loans to pay off & a rent to pay that doesn't really help.

Correct. If you know when to stop then your fine. iv never thrown up, got into to trouble or owt through drink. the worse thing thats happend to me is i nearly got off with a dirty lookin lass. But i did'nt thank god. my m8 did LOL! There is a bit of a problem though nowadays. Theres a huge drink culture in England nowadays and theres alot of young uns that get absolutely hammed. But i mean very young, 12, 13 were talkin. As for the argument earlier. I agree with the age restrictions on Alcohol because although there is plenty of responsible 16 years there is also a lot that would abuse alcohol to a large extenct. 21's just stupid though. And emo eyes seems like a sensible gal that could drink to her hearts content. Partiot my advise to you. Get bolloxed 1 night, you'l love it and youl see all these rumours about alcohol arnt true.

But yeah I think theres gotta be some restrictions, as there might be people who know their limit, dont go to excess and so on like weve described, but also think about the amount o nobs there are that dont do that lol.

Its bad enough with some of em now, but if it was even easier for em to buy it i think itd be a hellova lot worse.

Bein an alcoholic/causin trouble and stuff liek that, thats the bad side o beer.

A quiet drink or a good laugh and a party with ya mates, nothin wrong with that, just know ya limit and dont over excess so ya dont make yaself ill. If done correctly then its all good.

Don't try to take roadsigns.

:D

Usually, when i'm out of it i've been told I walk through streets singing "Mull of Kintyre - The Nottingham Forest version" :D

Oh mist rolling in from the Trent
My desire, is always to be
On City Ground
City Ground
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent

Hahaha...a few of my friends sing really loud when they're drunk. It's funny.

I got pissed off one time because I couldn't get a STOP sign down, so I went and kicked off a reflector from a post...It's on my wall now.

I love drinking. I have such a good time.

Yea, people like Patriot piss me off when they lecture me. Fair enough if he doesn't agree with it but he shouldn't try and enforce his opinion on others.

Drinking is an escape from life. Life, to be honest, is quite shit.

I concur.

I'm 17. I'm a big girl and can take responsability for my own actions.

It really is.

They bumped it up not too long ago.

It used to be 18...but they decided that people were too immature or something. I dunno. Fuck the law.

Yea, the drinking law is there to be broken :D

Patriot - You cannot go on through life by following every rule. It's stupid. Stand up for your self. Fight the power!

Haha!! That had to suck. I'm a happy-go-lucky drunk. If someone came up to me and punched me or something I'd laugh till I pissed my pants.

I don't get angry. When that stupid sign wouldn't come off I was cracking up.

Im the least angry drunk in the world. theres no chance Il get into a fight when drunk. Im just get r8 happy and full of energy. I always end up running around, the problem is when im drunk i cant run. So i wake up with cuts n bruise's on my knee's. I usually end up singin random classics. e.g the final countdown lol or chanting random wednesday chants, usaully 'if you dont fukin bounce, if you dont fukin bounce then your a blade!' and then i bounce around like an idiot. Im quite a responsible drunk though to be fair. But i do do some stupid stuff like If i see some1 smoking i always tell them there going to die of lung cancer and tell them they might become impertant!!!!! no idea why i do it!!

*Reports topic to the MET* :D ----- On a serious note, don't go drinking to much your young & you may think it's funny, but I know a kid that's been to the lowest depths of alcoholism & it ain't nice at all.

personally i could care less if ppl drink.i dont, its my choice.i am friends with alot of ppl that drink, smoke, do pot, and i even know ppl who have done worse drugs. its not that they are bad ppl, they just make wrong choices. but drinking is fine.thing is no one around me has parites i can sneak off 2 and they I.D. everywhere, otherwise i would.

EssixOwl
September 24th '05, 09:54 PM
they I.D. everywhere, otherwise i would. They should & I respect that they should as you in the first place shouldn't be drinking alcohol unless your with an adult. Why would you want to go to the Pub anyways? Your 14, you don't have to work & pay your living, you've got it easy. You should be out with your mates not sitting in a dank hole with a pint of Bitter drinking away the pain of working a boring 9 till 5 job. To all concerned. You don't have to drink to have a good time.

I really don't believe you have to be rat-arsed to have a good time.

When I go out I sometimes drink just water, and I still have a fantastic time. It's the atmosphere and how good you make the night, not how alcohol affects you!

September 25th '05, 09:59 AM
I dont have to get smashed to have a good time....to be honest im totally opposite lol.
I hate throwing up and not knowing what youve done. Been there, done that.
I like the odd drink just to be chilled out with my mates and i like bein tipsy, i talk to people more openly then!

Younger people seem to think that you need to get smashed to have fun. Younger like yourself? :p I agree though, only reason I drink is to get away from the stress of work & it's ok for me seeing as I'm 18 & all. @ fcuk: Yes I have & it's not as bad as Oldham.... / @ SexyBiatch: The age ol' tell of knowing your to young to drink; Your sick in the toilet.

well i went to sydney over the weekend for the footy final and spent nearly all my allocated money ($150) on grog over 3 days... between drinks, pool and transport i had nothing left *tear* i know that makes me sound like an alcoholic - and having known how much i had drunk - it would be considered binge drinking and or alcoholism BUT i was never maggot or anything so its all good :D
