View Full Version : I'm getting worried.

A few people [Family members/friends] have questioned me about losing weight, and have told me I've gone 'skinny', but I feel like I'm putting weight ON.
Should I be worried about the way in which I think?

Unless you get too skinny that its affecting your health then its your own preference I'd say

Are you happy with your body?

Don't worry about what they're saying. If you're happy with the way you look then so be it! Don't change a thing! But if you're not, be sure to go about changing in healthy ways of course.

Up until a few months ago, I hated my body.
But now I'm more than happy with the way I look, so it seems really odd that this has come about now.
I mean, I thought I was putting weight on, and I was perfectly fine with that, because as I say, I feel comfortable with myself now.
But I've always said that if people close to me were ever to tell me I was going to thin that I'd do something about it, so I don't know.

Well don't get too thin, like sickly thing. I mean, if you've lost alot of weight then it can change your appearance and your family just isn't used to it. But there is a limit so if you're losing too much weight then of course that is bad. But if you're happy with the way you look, I don't know why there should be a big problem!! Are you trying to still lose weight to get skinnier?

OMFGIDC
January 1st '07, 11:20 PM
Nope.
I'm fine with the way I am.
I guess I'll just let it go, and just carry on as normal.
If people keep asking though, it's going to keep worrying me because I can't see that I'm losing weight. :|

January 2nd '07, 02:58 AM
Sounds fair enough to me...but then what, are you going to try to gain weight back?

OMFGIDC

Yeah, I'll try.
I don't know how that will work though. :|

Let yourself be.I don't eat properly, this is my problem.
But IMO, it's making me GAIN weight, not lose it.
idk.
I was obsessed with my weight for a while, but then I becamse comfortable with it. It's not a problem for me, it just seems to be other people who think it's a problem.

If ya put up a couple more we can give ya a better opinion as that one shows only one view, so one such as from the front and so on would be good, can give an all round opinion then but from that one at least, nothin to worry bout.

Imo, I'm not skinny. My stomach could be a lot thinner, but it could be a lot bigger, too.
/Shrug.
Maybe it's because my family + friends are of a bigger size {I feel like such a bitch saying that, hah}, maybe that's why they think I'm too thin?
I don't know. :/

Awww, haha.
I would agree, there are way too many people uncomfortable with their bodies and stuff, and no-one is perfect.

It's just odd, because I went through the whole hating my body stage, and as soon as I actually felt comfortable with how my body looks, people start commenting on how I'm losing too much weight.
:/ Odd.

Type in your height and weight into that, calculate it, and if the number is between 20 and 25, then you are fine.

Apart from your frankly hideous pink blurry face, you look great. Even as a man I would like that body shape :p. You look fine and healthy to me, I get lots of people saying I am thin as well, I believe that perhaps it is more said out of thei rinsecurities than view of my figure.

+ Sometimes I think it is to do with that. Like, when certain people say it.
It depends on how it's said though.

My aunt actually looks really worried when she says stuff though, and you can tell she's being serious.
Idk. I think her perception of 'skinny' is slightly skewed.

I got 25.1, overweight...cheeky bastards.

It's a load of rubbish anyway, because it doesn't take into account the effects of muscles on weight.

Someone who's 5 foot who is very muscley can weigh more then someone who's 6"5 and skinny, neither of them are unhealthy, just differ in muscle mass.

So OMFGIDC, you are not underweight, and you have a nice figure, you probably (no offence) just don't have much muscle that is all.

As I said, you've a nice figure, tis all good. :D

Also lol at BMI.

UK people use this one as the weights set to stones so its a bit easier: Linkeh. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/healthy_living/your_weight/bmiimperial_index.shtml)

And if ya put mine in, 5'7", and 8 stone, you'll get this:

Your BMI result is:

17.57

Your weight is in the range that is classified as underweight.

And look where that is on the chart. :/

http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/images/interactive_area/bmi_chart_416x330.jpg
lol, off the scale = baaaaaaad. :/

Also they do take into account that muscles can affect it, its only a reccomended guidance list o course, not set in stone as each persons diff.

Recommended BMI Chart

Underweight - BMI less than 18.5
Ideal - BMI 18.5-25
Overweight - BMI 25-30
Obese, (should lose weight) - BMI 30-40
Very obese, (lose weight now) - BMI greater than 40

A BMI measurement is not as accurate if you're an athlete or very muscular (muscle weighs more than fat) as this can push you into a higher BMI category even if you have a healthy level of body fat. It's also not accurate for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or people who are frail.

If she is relatively old that might explain it. It used to be the case that Britian followed a very similar idea to Middle Eastern countries, in that people were not as attracted to thin women, as it was not the norm. So when she says you are thin she might be judging from the standards she grew up with, and not today's.

Ahhhh yes.
BMI isn't accurate in terms of people with a lot of muscle.
I don't have much, aha, so it's pretty accurate for me, I guess.

Yeah, I was thinking this.
But we were discussing it yesterday, when the white stripes video came on, {the one with Kate Moss in}, and she doesn't think Kate Moss is too thin.
So I'm really confused now, haha.
