if i really wanna build muscle in my upper body excersizing at home how much time should i devote to it when i do it and how often should i do it?

Your best bet (that I've heard) is 1 hour a day 5 days a week.

Start out with lighter weights so your body can gradually adjust. Most beginning schedules consist of 3 days of a 30-45 minute workout. Be sure to allow your body a day to rest in between. So maybe work out on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
