I was watching tv and one of those oxfam ads came on and this question came into my head for a reason and thought it was a pretty good question to ask
If you had the choice to either End poverty -or- Have world peace which would you choose??

I would prioritize world peace if given the chance. Peace is to sharing so with sharing comes understanding.

I believe the end to poverty is a crucial step in the direction of world peace as a whole. So if I had to choose one, then I would say world peace.

Well if there was world peace, then maybe, the politcians would then cancel all debt and put an end to poverty :)

Poverty. Healthy people are stronger than those dying of malnutrition.

Not having World peace is a big reason for there being poverty.

Yeah.
World Peace would mean we could stop spending half our money on guns and bombs and crap...
We could then use loads of the money for poverty!
Maybe.

world peace affects most of us more personally than poverty does seeing as we all seem to have connection to the internet and access to a computer. so as i would expect world peace has more votes than ending poverty. plus john lennon, one of the most talented people i've seen, was all about peace. although it's not as though it really matters what we would choose because no one is ever going to give any one of us the opportunity to end either of these.

Wouldn't world peace include the end of poverty?
But if poverty was gone everything would cost more and there would be more wars and much less peace than there already is.
It's got to be balanced. It will never be fair.

Removing Absolute poverty from the world can only be good, frees up resources to be used elsewhere, and should improve market growth in the formerly povery stricken regions no?
Removing Relative poverty should result in inflation if my basic knowledge serves correctly, which of course, is not necessarily good, but meh.
How does the removal of poverty cause wars?

With world peace the politicians, in theory, would focus upon and help those living in poverty. With peace developing weapons becomes unnecessary therefore more money is freed up allowing for help to be given to those who need it.

I would choose world peace, because if there was peace, countries would probably share there wealth!

I don't believe world peace would help poverty, honestly. Wars are often related to poverty, yes, but even more often poverty is realted to selfishness, and there's no guarantee that'll disappear with war. Some parts of America and several European countries have the money to help 3rd world countries like Nigeria, etc., but they choose to do nothing. They choose to keep that money, and that choice has nothing to do with war. Even if the money put into fixing damages caused by war, hospitalizations of soldiers and weapon production were suddenly freed up, who says the leaders wouldn't choose to keep that for themselves, and who says they won't spend it on their own country?
And similarly, worldpeace needn't mean love. There can and probably will still be hatred, it just won't be shown through fighting and war. So yea', I'd say bringing an end to poverty is my first priority.
