Some Tips For You:

1. Start your own new threads. Even if you think they are really stupid or even boring, you will get replies. If people see you starting threads then they are more likely to recognise you and take you into consideration.
2. If you don't have an Avatar then get yourself one via Your Account. You will get a lot more replies because it attracts eyes to your posts.
3. Dont use light colored fonts whilst posting, people will just scroll straight past anything you say. The same goes for posting in ridiculous sized posts with a mix of different colors!
4. Get yourself a Signature, anything will do, even a piece of text, just dont make it too big or you will annoy the hell out of other members.
5. In general discussions don't post things that are paragraphs long, a lot of people just cant be bothered to read them unless its in a debate or a review type discussion. - If its easier to read a book than your post it's likely to be skipped by viewers.
6. Dont troll! Ever! In other words don't post JUST to get on peoples nerves.
7. Give a little information about yourself in your introduction thread and keep it active for as long as you can. People reply to it, keep it active as long as you can. It's THE best way for people to get to know you. Threads that just say "Hi, I'm New!" never tend to do very well, especially if you never reply to them. The New Member Introductions Forum is for getting to know people so use it to let people to get to know you.
8. Argue with other members if you disagree with them, just try not to offend and make sure your points are valid. Hell, virtual play fighting is always good too. Checkout the Spam Forum for that wickedness.
9. Remember to checkout the vast networking functions on the site. Profiles, Albums, Groups etc..
