Yeah the only reason people would choose Gibson over Epiphone is for the name.
You can pretty much guarantee good quality from Epiphone anyway, considering they were a company in their own right, rather than just a budget brand like Squier.

Yeah they're pretty good all-rounders, tis why I wanteth one I've played a LP Black Beauty and some limited edition 1954 one. Epiphone ofc, too poor for the Gibson shit
