Re: punk/christian
I'd say ya can listen to whatever ya want as long as its not sayin bad things about ya religion, if its just rock music or whatever then as long as ya dont get into the sex and drugs and all the rest thats associated with it then, theres nothin to dissaprove of.

Re: punk/christian
I have tons of friends like love punk music, some of it is even christain itself, such as thousand foot krutch, falling up, relient K, Kutless, Fm Static, Seventh Day Slumber, and some punk bands don't always use cuss words plus I dont think its sinful to listen to it, as long as your not doing it, good luck

Hmm...something I'm constantly being reminded about. Well frankly I am a huge fan of death metal which many deem as horrifically demon possessed, yet I am a Christian, although I need to check into the masses more often. Listen to the music that you wouldn't be ashamed of. God wouldn't want you to stop being who you are...that's religion talking.

Re: Punk/christian
To be honest, I was brought up a devout Catholic. However, when I hit 12, I realised that I hadn't been given a very balanced look on the universe. And slowly realised that most of what I had been told was extremely far fetched, and I personally could not believe it. Now I call myself an agnostic, because that is what I am.
So, I would look into your religion and see what it means to you, and why you believe what you do. I am not trying to make you convert into atheism or anything, but anything that makes you doubt your relgion is useful. Because true faith should be able to withstand any doubts.
Anyway, your denomination also matters. While some veiw the bible as absolute truth and to be abided by at all costs, some are more relaxed. In general, as long as you love the lord, do not doubt him or disgrace his name, and despise the devil, you are alright. More importantly, remember to keep your morals. Which means no sleeping around. Rock music is perfectly acceptable. And I am pretty sure the bible makes no bad reference to drugs, so feel free to smoke all the pot you like. But only if you want to.

Re: Punk/christian
Venturing slightly off topic to address your comment, you are correct in the sense that religion is utterly worthless and functions only as a tool of manipulation and profit. But your origin theory is somewhat off. Remember that Homo Sapien Sapien (what we all are) is only around 10,000 years old. Archeological evidence suggests that some of our direct ancestors buried their dead. And, as anthropological theory suggests, burrying the dead is a cognizant recognition of religion. That is, since issues such as sanitation were irrelevant thousands of years ago, the only reason for burial of the dead is to ready the person for the afterlife, which naturally has religious implications. In essence, that means that religion, in its most rudimentary form, is indeed a pre-human idea. Just thought I should clarify.

Uh, it won't let me quote you for some reason.

Yes. Where is the proof of the existence of an all-powerful Creator who transcends all belief and knowledge?

So? You could apply that statement if you were a descendent of human. It still doesn't explain the existence of God, merely because of the longevity of that 'existence'. Perhaps that's the origin; the brainless simians wanted something to believe in and be safe in.
It's times like these you know just how much we have evolved from our predecessors. Our appearance, intelligence and physical ability may have been enhanced, but our resistance to gullibility hasn't.

She's a girl, and it's Punk. She will be just fine. Her parents will frown on it, but in the end its her choice as she doesnt violate the Church.
I love how people call it faith. Because that's all it is to me - blind faith. I have immense trouble believing in things I cannot actually see...Last edited by Asi9ine : April 8th '06 at 03:38 AM

Agreed. I just thought I should set the record straight in terms of the actual origin. But I do agree with what you're saying. So? You could apply that statement if you were a descendent of human. While that is true of religion, you can't necissarily see it all. For instance, neither of us saw the Big Bang. But we both (correct me if I'm wrong), believe it occured. Conversely, we've seen magic shows where a woman appears to have been cut in half, though clearly has not. So, what I think you intended to say, and what I agree with, is that faith cannot be the basis for decision-making, and only that which has been validated through science and reason can be accepted as true and applied to life.I love how people call it faith. Re: Punk/christian
Yeah, I have had that opinion for a very long time. I was allowed an identity by my upbringing. It's just so that I decided to not take any crap or be brainwashed. In essence, I know many have. It has been a lucrative business for many in addition.

Completely agreed. It entirely throws science and reason out of the window. Logic is just not taken into account at all. Pkay. Let's stay on topic here.
Trying to explain why religion is worthless is just making the problem at hand worse.

Re: Punk/christian
heck, im a christian and i listen to stuff like slipknot, marilyn manson, stuff like that. Your probably thinking, what? a christian listening to stuff like that? well as far as im concerned, you are in control of your life and you are in control of what you do with it. if you choos to listen to stuff like that, you gotta make sure that it doesnt come between you and God.
