Macromedia is no more :(
Adobe being the bashful bullies they are have bought out Macromedia (there main compotition) which creates products such as:
- FreeHand
- Fireworks
- Dreamweaver
As far as I can see this is macromedias death and its products will die shortly first to go will be the smaller products then they will rebrand the bigger one's with there own name.
Its kinda sad to see this happen to macro, I learnt everything I know about graphics through macromedia and now its being laid to rest
So what do you guys think?

Re: Macromedia is no more :(
They took over a while back now.
Seems they are wanting to keep the Macromedia image but also add in the functionality that Adobe product soffer. Could be good for us, could be bad. Only time will tell.
One thing I am looking forward too though is Photoshops Picture editing capabilities in Fireworks, that will be sweet!

Re: Macromedia is no more :(
As long as we still get the functionality of Fireworks and Flash then I am happy.

Re: Macromedia is no more :(
ha! balls to that...cs2 you can switch directly from photoshop to dreamweaver and to flahs and fireowrks apparently which can only breed a new range of flash movies .etc which will be outstanding! and now youll be able to hopefully make a bendy vector line in photoshop!

Re: Macromedia is no more :(
all it is at the moment is they've placed all the software that macromedia developed under their name, since they've bought them.
someone trued to tell me that i was wrong in calling it 'Macromedia Fireworks' today, he was wrong. it's still Macromedia FW, DW, Flash etc, it's just that adobe now own the rights to the products.
If you look on the adobe website, they've got the list of trial versions of all the macromedia downloads; the full suite, branded as Macromedia.
Don't know what they plan to do in the future.

Re: Macromedia is no more :(
that's a bit cheeky though. it's like riccardo buying TF off shane and putting 'Site Designed by Riccardo Darwent'
will they update the software or merge it with Photoshop or just rebrand the product or leave it the same?
