    Default Smoking--- help

    I am a smoker and have been for quit a while, i am wantin to quit wen i got to sixth form as i am taking a pe course, but i dont want to quit at the moment as i have alot of stress on wid exams etc and i dont want to make it worse, have any one got any ideas on how to quit or an previous smokers could you plz tell me how you quit

    Two main things needed to help someone quit:
    1.The motivation to actually give up.
    2.Someone to help you along with the bas times of giving up.

    LoL, I never even started, glad as well as everyone only wants to quit sooner or later.

    But anyways, at work today one o the women lent a book to another, called somethin like how to stop smokin permanently, its apparently really good.

    If you cant quit smoking your weakminded, I can tell you wont quit because your making excuses already

    You should quit.
    Smoking actually makes you more stressed but its psychological saying it calms you down, coz its just feeding the crave which calms you down rather than the actual cigarrette. it makes your blood pressure actually go higher which makes you more stressed and smoking just makes it worse when you can't have a cigarrette because you feel even more stressed than you would if you didnt smoke.
    your the only one able to stop yourself smoking, and if i was you i would do it before my exams rather than after them

    the only way to quit is to never start But yeah i agree with pearson, it sounds harsh, but if you are already making excuses of why you cant quit just yet. Then you will make excuses after excuses and you wont end up quitting at all.
    So if your serious about quitting then do it straight away. You will need alot of motivation, and will power. You will be glad you stopped before it was too late!

    just dnt tek any money out of the house apart from 4 busses so ya wnt b able 2 buy em....it works 4 me n buyin sweets

    Smoking only helps to calm you down when you are actually doing it. Like Tim said, only take the money out of the house that you need for Buses etc.
    You can't smoke in your exams so it's really not going to help there. Revise more to take your mind off it too, should help.

    you need the will power to do it.
    associate it with something bad, otherwise you will never get out of the circle.
    its hard at first, but u need to do it on your own, patches are stupid i think

    You could also stop referring to them as cigarettes or fags etc. Call them cancer sticks of death constantly, that will put you right off.

    Hey, just a quick question..when did you start smoking and why did you start?

    Because apparently, the younger you start smoking the longer you will smoke for so it's probably going to be harder for you to quit then somebody like my aunty who only started a few years ago...but still...hang in there! You'll come out of it a stronger and healthier person!!

    And try calling those quit lines..they might help.
