America - "land of the free"
It pisses me off when America refer to themselves as the 'land of the free'. It's b******s. I was watching a film today in my Citizenship lesson called 'If these wall could talk'. There are three different stories in the same house in different eras. The first in the 50's, then the 70's and then the 90's. It's about abortion and peoples feelings towards it. Apparentley, it was banned in America. Why though? Shouldn't an American, as a so called free person, be able to wath this film if he/she wanted to do so? It's a load of s**t that it's banned. It's a very good, interesting film and can't believe it was banned in the so called "land of the free".

Re: America - "land of the free"
It is banned. It was banned after some of the actors/actresses received death threats.

Re: America - "land of the free"
Not that I know of.
It might not have been "ban", but the studio probably chose not to release it. No one says they can't show it, but sometimes the studio refuses to release a film for certain reasons.
But actors/actresses receive death threats all the time. If the studio chose not to release the film it was probably for a different reason.

Re: America - "land of the free"
I am against it.
This, however, is more of a religious thing than a political thing in my case.
As I Catholic I believe that the baby becomes life right at conception, so therefore abortion is simply killing the child.
If murder is illegal, why not abortion?
However, a politician can't use his religious views to affect government decisions. Even though religion says that life begins at conception, science has numerous different theories as to when "life" begins.

Re: America - "land of the free"
Abortion should be legal. What if a 14 year old girl got pregnant? Her life would be ruined.
What about rape?
What if a woman doesn't want a baby so when she is made to have it she neglects/abuses it?Nat fancies Pearsons mate and told me shed pay £7 to go on a date with himNATAL!E.// I was sick in the sink!SCORE! says:

Re: America - "land of the free"
Totally agree, however in partriots case its his religious beliefs. Buts its not too likely patriots going to get an abortion and if patriot doesnt have sex before marriage im sure any accident wont effect him too much. America has just as much free speech as the Uk. One thing I dont understand about free speach is if you have racist views and say them and get done for them then this would not be free speach. Im not saying racism should be aloud, I just wonder how that works.

Re: America - "land of the free"
It was probably banned because our country is being run by a bunch of conservitave douchebags who are so stuck in their ways that they don't give a fuck.
I'm a strong liberal, and I'm completely pro-choice. If the woman wants it, then let her have it. Don't give me that 'she's murdering an innocent baaaaaby' bulls**t. If you were in the same position you'd do it. You'll deny it now, but it's true.
America is not the land of the free. We're the same as any other country. Our government has a complex. They like to believe that America is the greatest country in the world. They want the power.
I f*****g hate it. America is nothing but a power hungry oil fuled megalomaniac society that needs to have it's ass checked.
I'm embarassed to call myself American at this time.Last edited by Boy_Wonder06 : March 13th '06 at 06:19 PM

Re: America - "land of the free"
This thread is apparantly about America being the land of the free... Take the topic of abortion to its own thread please.
