The New Smoking Ban!

now that the new smoking in all public places ban has come into place what do you think peoples reactions are gonna be like, do you think people will actually follow the law, or will a lot of people rebel and completely ignore it.

It's just in Scotland. It depends. In ireland, there was a bit of oppostion, which died down quickly. Now they just....get on with it.

I literally cannot wait for this law to be put into place.

I absolutely destest smoking in public places, especially when other people are suffering as well. There's no need to harm other people, because of a bad habit.

People used to smoke next to my mum when she was pregnant. Disgraceful.

I'll tell you what else is annoying, you're going out, all clean and smelling nice, and someone comes and smokes next to you at the tram/bus stop.

all smokers always smoke upwind too....as if they're winding me up....

i agree aswell, i think if people want to smoke they should do it in there own homes, but, there is also the implication that if the household has young children then they will still be at risk!!!! But smokin ban in public places i agree too.

Its mega annoyin when your walking around the city centres and people are wafting smoke in your face.

And yes i think its a good idea, althoguh at the moment its only in Scotland and the ban applies to all enclosed public spaces, which they define as 2 walls and a roof.

But because of the governments ways of makin everythin the same, itl probably be applied down here as well, theyve already hinted at it in the reports. Ireland just gets round it by having smoking areas that are 1 wall and a roof lmao.

Smoking on all government premises such as my work place is now banned down here, theyre even getting rid of the smoking pods because they come under the category of enclosed spaces.

But I guess it is a good idea as people will still be able to smoke in their own homes, but not havto make others breathe it anymore.

I always seem to get the smoke blown at me, wherever I am.

Plus, I absolutely hate it when I go to gigs, and come home and I just stink of cigarette smoke. It's awful.

Some people really have no consideration for others - An example of this is Callum's mum. I also hate it when you're in a cafe or a restaurant, and they don't have no smoking signs up, and people just spark up, like in the pub earlier. It spoils the atmosphere, let alone your meal.

i can't really say anything really because i've smoked for years but i go outside away from people anyway

I agree with the no smoking in public places its my own fault i smoke and smoking in public places like pubs and clubs is forcing my bad habit onto other people

It's not ridiculous to those people who's lives it'll save.

The government making money isn't a very good argument, as i'd applaud any government that puts life before finance.

It's a bad idea though. Pubs will refuse to do it as they'll ultimately lose money.

If you don't drink, would you like people to come up to you and force vodka down your throat?

It's like going in a swimming pool, swimming for 5 minutes, just starting to enjoy yourself, and then someone new comes in and has a piss. You'd have to get out, wouldn't you?

That has got to be one of the best comparisons I've seen on this matter, or most matters.

It's very true!

And in my opinion, this is one of the best ideas put forward with the insight of better health on the horizon.
