    Thumbs up A changing world

hey everyone, i thought id start a debate in a rather random way lol. I've put a rather random poem of mine below, (i know boring and sad neva mind lol), please read it then debate its truth. I think it shows all the truths of life as it stands but i may be wrong, after all its my opinion. CHEERS

    A Changing World

    A changing world,
A world filled with hope and glory,
But over rules by greed and fury.
A world that we can’t escape,
Where no one knows their fate.

    A changing world,
A world filled with depression and sorrow,
Your life is only there to borrow,
A world that was once perfect,
But now we can’t even manage basic respect,
So much for our happy little world.

    A changing world,
A world filled with illness and death,
So many cures, none of which our governments will allow us to use,
A world that is full of corruption,
Where the accidental bombs cause unnecessary death and destruction,

    It’s a changing world,
    But are we changing it,
    We had a perfect world,
Now we have nothing at all!

    (Danny Holtham)

I agree with it, except for the part about the world once being perfect. It was in a better condition, but never perfect.

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me

It says alot of things that R true but I disagree w/ the part that we "can't escape". If U mean it's the sorrowful world that we can't escape then I think that the way you escape it is by not BEING or BELIEVING U R in this world. THAT is how U escape. I LUV ur descriptions though, Dan FROST?

There is some truth to it. But I think that the assesment is overly bleak and gives undo praise to times past. Retrospective yearning is often baseless, as we tend to disregard the ills of the past when wishing for a restoration of it. Furthermore, it suggests, at least to me, an anti-corperate, anti-laissez faire, and anti-Social Darwinist tone, which quite frankly is a greater problem then that which you've outlined, as laissez faire economics friendly to corperate growth and the general acceptance and application of the principles of Social Darwinism is the best chance we have to improve society.
