Re: Bully
That's messed up. They're taking an important topic like bullying which hundreds of people suffer from every day and they turn it into a gimmick to make money. It makes bullying seem like a laugh and a joke and something that shouldn't be taken seriously. Makes me sick.

Re: Bully
Hope your being sincere there! I dont like the idea of it either, especially with the fact that no one thinks of the certifiates given to these games! I knew a 10 year old and younger who was playing grand theft auto!

Re: Bully
Nah I really dont like the idea of that game either.
Games have a tendancy to make people want to inflict violence in real life, it could make people think its "cool" and "fun" to bully people.

Re: Bully
It's bollocks really. It's just a game. I couldn't believe it when people said the game 'Manhunt' made somebody kill his friend. Nobody in the right frame of mind would of done it. He must have been a psycho.

Re: Bully
Im not being nasty or anything, just making a point.
I think, people would think differently about it if they had been effected/their friends had been effected in any way by bullying.

Re: Bully
LoL jumpin on the bandwagon a lil there arnt we, u even read up on the game properly?
Wont be buyin it maself like cuz its not my type, but still from what ive read the game puts you in the shoes of a kid BEING bullied, and its your task to stand up to them. Surely showin sumone standin up to bullies aint that much of a bad thing? Especially if it shows alternate ways of dealin with it as well.
And as to what mamfy said, thats down to the parents or whoever bought the games fault, a kid of 10 cannot buy hisself a 17+ rated game.

Re: Bully
Whether the player assumes the role of the bully or somebody being bullied, it's still an unsuitable topic for a game.

As for it being the parents' fault if a kid gets hold of a 15 or 18 rated game, I have to say there are loads of ways of a kid obtaining them. Theft is one way. Getting somebody older (although not necessarily a parent) is another. Hell, I know of stores that are only too happy to sell rated games to underage kids. It's profit for them, isn't it?

Re: Bully
Also the gamespot one I read commented that the gamer is put in the shoes of a kid BEING bullied, by pupils and teachers, and gives the gamer the task of dealing with that.
Though agreed that makin a game outa bullying can be wrong, depends on their intentions really, though i must admit game companie's aims nowdays are more about making profit than creatin a game benificial to the gamer.
Just havto see how it turns out like really, it could swing either way.

Re: Bully
yeah. id like to see how popular it really is, id laugh if hardly anyone bought it

and back to the discussion about 15 or 18 games going to underage people, it should be the parents responsibility to not buy it for them because it quite clearly tells you that it isnt suitable for anyone below the age, if theyre gonna do it then theyre the ones going to be in trouble if their kids do anything bad

Re: Bully
i get bullied loads but i always fight back, the game is about a kid who starts off as a wimp and has to become strong enough to stand up to the bullies, i would buy it it looks interesting but its not my type of game!! The age thing is stupid my parents dont care much (im not a homicidal maniac and dislike the gta series and similar games). Forest is partly right to do something like that you hav to be messed up to start however the game simply gave the kid the idea of how to kill the child. TV is often overlooked as there is no rating the kid just needs to flick a switch and he sees much worse stuff than on games.
I like the idea of a game that teaches kids to stand up and not fall to bullies

Re: Bully
I see where you're coming from, but unfortunately in today's world you're never standing up to just one bully. The bully always has a gang of mates that will gladly back him or her up and would be only too happy to pummel the victim into the ground.
While I think it's good that a game is trying to teach people to have courage and to be confident, they're missing out the fact that sometimes standing up to the bully is a bad move. Speaking to somebody about it is a much better one to take.
