Re: emulators?
No, they should not. Sure, many of us would love to be able to use them legally. But the fact remains the release of a game in a given format can only occur at the perogative of the copywrite holder. And passing laws which would undermine current intellectual property laws is illogical. That said, some emulators are still legal. Although I imagine you mean ROMs more than you do emulators, as really it is only that which is illegal, not the emualtor engines themselves.

Re: Emulators?
yeah it is mainly the roms that are illegal due to copyright laws. but with VBA (visual boy advanced) you can make slide shows and movies. also you can learn alot on hex math with emuators.

Re: Emulators?
I think they should.
Playing new games and such on them is wrong, as its just as bad as copying them or whatever.
But I've got a couple of old emulators, a snes one and a saturn one, now my saturn ones amazing, crashes a lot but, years ago I had a real saturn with some great RPGs on it, the shining series and so on, but it got nicked.
I'd never ever been able to get another saturn with those great games on, but I managed to find an emulator with them, and now I can play those few good ol games again that they dont sell anymore, especially as I did buy em in the first place years ago.
So yeah, when production on certain games or consoles is stopped and ya cand find/buy em anymore then they should be made available on emulator.

Re: Emulators?
I only ever download what is effectively 'abandonware'. The vast majority of my ROMs are either from the Super NES or Genesis (Mega Drive in the UK?); both of which I've owned. The only reason for the emulator and such is because I know it'll never kick out on me.
Nothing will ever live up to blowing dust out a cartridge, though.
